Pounce Cat Cafe / Via kickstarter.com A cat cafe is pouncing into Downtown Charleston, SC this summer! Pounce Cat Cafe + Wine Bar just recently launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter and has set out to raise $20,000 to help with the lease, renovations, permits, and other miscellaneous costs in opening the cafe. So, who is behind the South’s first cat cafe? College of Charleston alums Ashley Brooks and Annaliese Hughes are the self-proclaimed crazy cat ladies behind this feline friendly idea. According to the cafe’s Kickstarter page, Pounce “will be a place where you come to enjoy freshly brewed coffee or tea, sip on wine or local beer, indulge in delicious pastries, and cuddle with adorable (and adoptable!) cats and kittens.”Pounce Cat Cafe has partnered with Charleston’s largest animal shelter, Charleston Animal Society (CAS), for all of their adoptable kitty needs. Pounce will be fostering between 15 and 20 cats and kittens from CAS at any given point, and if you fall in love with a furry friend over a cup of coffee, you’ll be able to take them home with you too.The Pounce Kickstarter campaign will run through March 29. Kickstarter projects operate under an “all-or-nothing” funding model, so if Pounce Cat Cafe doesn’t reach it’s goal at the end of 29 days, the cafe will likely not open by their projected date of August 8.So what are mew waiting for?! The time is meow to help make the South's first cat cafe a reality!
