Here’s One Reason Every Student Should Blog

I recently read this refreshing news of how two school girls took action to lead the change they wanted to see in their respective country’s education. It started in Argyll, Scotland. There lived a school girl, Martha. She was 9. She observed and was displeased with the poor quality and small ration of dinners in her school. In fact, she would go back home hungry because she couldn’t take the food. She could have folded her arms. She could have shrugged. She could have accepted the status quo or waited on some adults to fix the mess. That’s what a typical teenager would have done, perhaps. She did not! She started a blog, NeverSeconds, highlighting the problems with the dinners served in her school. But she didn’t just rant or hurl insults at the authorities. That would achieve no good result, aside being unethical. She provided photo proofs and challenged the authorities to come up with solutions. Within 4 months, Martha’s blog had attracted almost 8 million readers. No! That’s not a typo. I actually typed 8 million readers because, well, that’s the result she got. And she did it in just 120 days. Expectedly, the authorities took notice and swiftly stepped in to restore normalcy. That's inspiring. Go start a blog too.
