    Quintuple Your Dollars With Oberlin

It's what we like to call a magical money maneuver.

Hey there! Hi from Snowberlin! You're missing the coldest winter *I* remember experiencing here in Oberlin. I don't think I've seen my yard not covered in fluffy white snow since 2014 began (except, of course, today, because everything finally started to melt). This is what my face looked like when I walked to work one fine morning. (Yes, those are my own personal hair icicles.)

So, I'm not actually here to talk about my face (though it might show up again one more time; selfie WAS the word of the year last year), I'm here to talk about everyone's favorite thing: money.

    (heaves collective sigh)

As I mentioned in my first Buzzfeed article (didja miss it? It has pretty gifs of Oberlin like the one above -- this time with no snow!), it's our reunion year (YAY! May 23-27, 2014; I hope you already have it circled with exclamation points on your calendar) and part of being a Responsible Oberlin Alum is to financially support Oberlin with a gift of whatever size you're comfy giving. (Yes, even a dollar is okay.) But when money's tight, it's nice to know our dollars can become more than what we put in. Here comes the wild math: The 2014 Trustee Challenge.

By setting up a recurring gift -- that is, a gift that you can "set and forget" for the next four years til we start thinking about our next reunion -- you can quintuple your donation's impact.

If you commit to a yearly $25 donation over the next four years (that's $100 spread between now and our next reunion), your gift will be matched this year with a $500 one-time donation from the Board of Trustees.

You can do this at ANY time (even right now!) but in order for the Trustee Challenge to activate, you have to set up your recurring gift by June 30, 2014.

($25 sounds like a lot, but think about it as two bucks per month for the next four years. That's one day a month of grabbing coffee in your favorite Oberlin mug rather than at the coffee shop. Yeah, I think you got this.)

So. That's what's up. Money is cool, and Oberlin is in the business of helping make your money into that much more with the help of the Trustees, and did I mention that I'm really excited to see you all this May? It's going to be a weekend to remember.

    Love Oberlin, love you all,

    ~ Ma'ayan
