10 Things You Can Do In London This Summer If You're Not Rich

Relatively cheap things to do this summer. You promised you'd explore more of London, so now is your chance.

1. Chill at an outdoor cinema

What’s better than watching a great movie? Watching a great movie under the stars. Check out the Luna Cinema to see some classic films in the lovely setting of Crystal Palace.

2. Picnic on Primrose Hill

Make the most of the 10 minutes of British summer this year by taking a picnic to primrose park. It's looking up, so take a friend, and a couple bottles of prosecco.

If you're looking for something romantic, come back in the evening, and get one of the best views of London's Skyline.

3. Take a dip in the Serpentine

There’s no better way to cool down in the summer heat than taking a dip in the Serpentine Lido. It’s been an escape in the middle of London for over 100 years and it’s still going strong.

4. Sip cocktails at a rooftop bar

Nothing is more summery than sipping on a fruity drink whilst watching the tourists meander down Oxford Street. This chic rooftop bar, Notch, overlooks one of the world's most famous shopping streets. With cocktails, jam jars, and swings it’ll be just the treat to get you in the mood for summer.

5. Spot some deer in Richmond park

Get back to nature and check out the deer roaming the UK's largest Royal Park. It is a national nature reserve and deer park with over 630 Red and Fallow deer roaming freely since 1529. It's old, and very beautiful.

Just pop on the District line to Richmond, and it's a short 15 minute walk from the station.

6. Give something back by volunteering

Moving to London is a big change.

7. Be a total tourist for a day

It's London. You've been promising yourself since last august that you're going to explore the city, but it's never really happened. Jump on one of the open-top buses and pretend that you haven't lived here for the best part of a year.

8. Get £5 tickets to see Shakespeare

The Globe is hosting a range of Shakespeare events including the hugely popular Midsummer Night’s Dream. The tickets are only £5. It’s a great way to try something new in London and embrace the arts and culture.

9. Cycle round Hyde Park

Hyde Park is huge, beautiful and right on our doorstep. There are lots of conveniently placed docking stations, so you'll never be stuck in the wilderness

10. Slide down the world’s longest tunnel slide

Just opened – it's 178m long and will take 40 seconds to whizz by London’s skyscape. You’ll circle the ArcelorMittal Orbit 12 times and end with a 50m straight run back to Earth. Find out more here.
