This Mom's Son Wanted His Own American Girl Doll, So She Worked Some Magic

"I wasn’t surprised to see a doll on his list. He has an older sister, and they play together every day."

Gina DeMillo Wagner is a professional photographer and writer. When her son wanted an "American Boy Doll" for his birthday, she didn't skip a beat.

First she scoured the internet for an 18-inch doll that resembled her son.

Wagner wrote on her blog, "It didn't take long before I found a Madame Alexander doll on eBay for $25. If I looked past the hot pink lipstick and hair bow, I saw the spitting image of my son."

After a quick hair and eyelash cut, she removed the doll's makeup with acetone.

Without makeup and with a haircut the doll was quickly turned into an American Boy Doll.

She then purchased a Spider-Man shirt she knew her son would love.

Wagner told BuzzFeed, "As for Miles' reaction...It was priceless. He was shocked and so excited that the doll looked like him. He and his sister have been playing with their dolls nonstop ever since."
