Time magazine is facing twitter backlash after Laverne Cox was omitted from the Times100 list of people who have influenced the world for better or worse this year. TIME notes that the line-up of the TIME100 is finalised exclusively by editors but that they take their readers opinion into deep consideration and value the results of the reader poll.
When the list was announced, twitter immediately exploded with calls for TIME to explain Cox's exclusion after 91% of 88,000 readers voted for her to be included
Users reacted with shock that Cox had been left out, pointing out her positive work for the LGBT community.
Even more voiced their anger at Cox's ommission as she was the only transgender woc on the list, accusing TIME of transphobia and erasure
Cox reacted to her exclusion gracefully, taking to twitter to assure her fans she wasn't disheartened by her omission
She may not have made it onto the TIME100 list, but shes still our queen
