I Tried Fall Beauty Trends And Here's How It Went

RE: BUZZFEED APPLICATION Fall is in the air! The leaves are changing, school is starting, so I decided to try a few Fall beauty trends, with some hits and misses:

Look #1 (model): Glitter + Cat Eye

I often wear shimmery eye shadow with black eyeliner, so this is somewhat familiar territory, but I NEVER do cat eye makeup. I think it looks great on other people, so I thought maybe it was time to give the cat eye look a try!

Look #1 (me): Glitter + Cat Eye

Success? Sort of. I've got Glitter + Cat Eye, but it doesn't look much like the model photo. I used 2 different glittery products but they're not very visible. This also reminded me why I never do cat eye makeup: it's so difficult to get both sides to match. Like most people, my eyes are not quite the same shape, and that is VERY apparent when you're drawing shapes around your eyes. And it isn't a look I would go out in, I pared it down before I left home!

Products used: e.l.f. Kohl eyeliner, Bareminerals Queen Phyllis eye shadow, NYX Walnut roll on eye shimmer, Pacifica mascara.

Look #2 (model): Bold Red Lips!

Bright red lipstick is a classic, and one of my favorite looks. I usually pair it with my normal eye makeup, but this year's trend is bold lips with minimal eye makeup. How would I feel with bold lips and bare eyes?

Look #2 (me): Bold Red Lips!

I love bold lips with bare eyes! I did put mascara on, but especially for a day time look I actually like this way better than my usual eye makeup (and it's way easier)!

Products used: Besame lipstick in Besame Red and Red Velvet (amazing lipstick that stays on, and the lipstick Peggy Carter wore in Agent Carter!), and Pacifica mascara.

Look #3 (model): Dark Lips + Up Do

I celebrate using different color palettes for different seasons, and this wine colored lipstick is all Fall to me. Lipsticks this season are going super dark, even to jet black, but this seemed like a stretch from my normal without going full goth.

Look #3: (me) Dark Lips + Up Do

I tried some variations with this style, and it provided some great fall makeup inspiration! Top left: I used Urban Decay lipstick in a color called Blackmail, and it's a dramatic look but I think a bit too dark for me. Bottom left: I mixed the Urban Decay Blackmail with Besame Red Velvet, and it's closer to the wine color in the model photo (and more likely something I'd wear). Right: I realized that the hair style I'd done was more of a pompadour, and I think the model has a soft top knot. I have short hair so I can't do a top knot, but I modified the hair style to be less pompadour-like.
