The Family That Cosplays Together...

There's a family in Central Florida... some might call them weird. Every Christmas they get dressed up in themed costumes and celebrate the season together. There's a green screen, a costume contest and one day a parade down Park Avenue. What do you do to celebrate?

2008 - How it all started

It all started rather innocently. A couple kids wanted to take some nice pictures to give to their parents and grandparents on Christmas.

2009 - A Very Harry Christmas

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was released this year. In honor of one of their favorite book series, the family made 2009 A Very Harry Christmas. Nurse Pomfrey, Luna Lovegood, Nymphadora Tonks, Professor Lupin in Werewolf form, Ron Weasley, Professor Trelawney, Harry Potter, Professor McGonagall, Aunt Petunia and Mr. Arthur Weasley all made an appearance that year.

2010 - Narnian Christmas

After Harry Potter Christmas, a silent ballot voting system was instituted in order to come up with future themes. Which resulted in Narnia becoming the theme for Christmas 2010. As their simple little Christmas became more complicated so did their numbers begin to grow. Along with the addition of a full room green screen to take pictures in front of.

2011 - Star Wars Family Christmas Special

Of all the nerdy things in the universe, Star Wars is ground zero. So when it came to voting after Narnia Christmas, it only made sense that Star Wars be the next theme this family attempted. This was also the year that the costume contest was implemented. The Imperial AT-ST (aka. Chicken Walker) took the prize that year.

2012 - Lord of the Rings/ The Hobbit Christmas

Where does one go after Star Wars Christmas? Well, they turned to Middle Earth for 2012 which also saw the release of the first Hobbit movie and the release of Denny's Hobbit breakfast. (And of course they went and got their Radagast Red Velvet Pancake Puppies in full costume at their local Denny's.) The Balrog won the costume contest this year.

2013 - Doctor Who Christmas

This was an interesting year. The majority of the family had never seen Doctor Who. But the 50th anniversary was approaching and the few who did overthrew the silent vote. Creating an unprecedented year. Luckily The Doctor travels through time and space allowing for people like Albert Einstein and Charles Dickens to make appearances, along with other actual characters from the show. The TARDIS won the costume contest in a sweeping vote.

2014 - Superheroes and Villains Christmas

This year was the first year the family turned from a single movie theme and went to a broader genre. Superheroes and Villains. Creating a wide range of selections to choose from. Including, The Arrow, Cyclops, The Shadow, Supergirl, Dreaklock, Lucille Ball as Superman, Storm, Rogue and Wolverine. As well as (not shown) Catwoman, Harley Quinn and Manbat (who won the costume contest.)

2015 - Star Trek Christmas

In an almost unanimous vote, Star Trek took the votes as the theme for next year's Christmas celebration. Who knows what the future holds for this family?
