People Shared 17 Things They Consider Crimes Against Food, So I Ranked Them From "This Can't Be That Bad" To "This Should Actually Be Illegal"

    The other day, redditor u/_bexcalibur asked, "What, in your opinion, is considered a crime against food?" Fellow Reddit users shared some food crimes that are pretty controversial, so I thought, hey, why not weigh in some of my own thoughts?

    So, here are some of the worst food crimes according to the internet, ranked from "this can't be so bad" to "this should actually be illegal":

    17. "Putting ketchup on pasta."

    My thoughts: Tomato sauce has tomatoes, ketchup has tomatoes, so I get it — BUT I don't think I'll try it anytime soon.

    My thoughts: It's trendy, and I kinda want to try it. All I need is one bite — just for the experience. 

    15. "I had a friend that used to eat bacon with Nutella. 'Had.'"

    My thoughts: Look, bacon *can* pair well with sweet foods. (I'm looking at you, maple bacon donuts.) I'm curious about this one. 👀 

    14. "I put Tabasco sauce on almost everything I eat (eggs, scalloped potatoes, macaroni and cheese), and I've been told that it's a crime against food. But if that's true, why does it taste so good?"

    My thoughts: Good question. TBH, hot sauce tastes good on a lot of things, so I don't think this is a crime! (And now I want to try hot sauce on mac 'n' cheese!!!)

    My thoughts: I've never tried it, but I want to know what it tastes like.

    My thoughts: Mushy vegetables are just disappointing. Not the worst thing in the world, but I'm definitely not a fan.

    11. "Hot dog eating contests. I hate everything about them, and if I could make them illegal, I would."

    10. "Pouring milk before cereal. Don't need to explain this one."

    My thoughts: It just feels wrong. Plus, you end up pouring way more milk than you actually need, and then your cereal is, like, drowning. No fun.

    9. "My ex-wife used to boil ribs. Nasty light ribs taste and mushy texture. Then, she got offended when I took over the rib responsibilities on an actual smoker. Her pouty little voice, 'Are my ribs not good enough for you?'"

    My thoughts: Ribs are delicious, and they should NOT be mushy. 

    8. "People (mainly on cooking shows) who think adding chocolate to something is a good idea. Especially when that something is seafood."

    My thoughts: This is a little different than the Nutella and bacon thing. Chocolate is pretty amazing on its own. But chocolate and SHRIMP? My stomach disagrees with this.

    My thoughts: Quite high on the food crime scale. The ✨joy✨ of a Kit Kat is breaking it apart and savoring every bite. Biting into it saves time, sure, but is it worth it???

    6. "Making scrambled eggs in a microwave."

    My thoughts: I once had scrambled eggs that were reheated in a microwave, and the texture was rubbery and ~wrong~, so I can't imagine making them from scratch being good AT ALL. (If you've tried it and it's good, let me know.)

    4. "More of a beverage than food, but I knew quite a couple of people that would enjoy iced coffee and lemonade together."

    My thoughts: Have I tried iced tea and lemonade? Yes, and it's very good (an Arnold Palmer)! But I'm pretty sure iced coffee and lemonade don't go together, and should never be paired together.

    3. "I saw someone eat pineapples with mayo once at school, and it should be considered a crime."

    My thoughts: I don't mind mayo, but I'm not sure if it belongs anywhere near pineapple.

    1. "No seasoning at all. Not even a pinch of salt."

    My thoughts: Unless you have a good reason to not use seasoning, this is definitely the worst crime. Seasoning has been given to us as a gift to make food enjoyable. I've had bland chicken before, and I don't want to try it again. -1/10.
