Out Of Control Bachelor Fan Finally Asks All Her Burning Questions

Austen had always loved the Bachelor franchise. When she realized she remotely knew someone that was a contestant let alone the new bachelor, she took her curiosity to a new level. Enter our bat shit crazy friend Austen...

Subject: Congrats! You may not remember me but I have questionsHi Ben!You may or may not remember me but we spent a long, hot, tiresome week in Honduras together. Anyway, congrats on the big news! Very exciting for you - I hope you find your wife! And with that said... I have SO.MANY.QUESTIONS. about the Bachelor that have continued to build up over the years but I've never had any access to someone who can give a firsthand account... until you. You may ask yourself 'how does she have my email?' - well, I went back through a year's worth of emails to find yours in one of the 2014 Honduras group emails. Crafty (or crazy), I know.I'm sure you are extremely busy and overwhelmed right now, but if you ever have some free time and want to make a devoted Bachelor fan happy, I would love it if you could answer these burning questions so that you can put my questioning mind at ease. I will also pass this along to my fellow Bachelor fan friends, including Tdike who you are friends with - so if you didn't have an incentive before to answer my crazy email, now you do - because Tdike is your friend and friends do nice things for their friends. So without further ado, here are my questions!1. What is the application process like? How many rounds do you have to go through to get accepted? Do they pay for your transportation while interviewing or do you have to cover the travel with your own expenses?2. Do they make you go through a psych evaluation before you are officially approved to be on the show?3. I'm generally aware that once on the show, producers take away your phone, email and other forms of communication and that there is no TV or computers in the Bachelor Mansion - is that true? How can they absolutely stop you from communicating with your friends and family? What happens if you disobey the rules and contact a family member or friend?4. So throughout Kaitlyn's season, it seemed like she was into Shawn the entire time and already knew she wanted to be with him and the rumors floating around are that the producers made her see the whole process through anyway even though she pretty much had already decided on Shawn. What would have happened if she told the producers to go screw themselves and she's going to do what she wants? Do the producers really have that much control?5. Are stylists provided for all contestants? What about for the Bachelor / Bachelorette - do they get a wardrobe budget?6. Are gyms or workout instructors provided?7. When in the Bachelor mansion, is there a cook provided?8. When not on a date, what do you guys do in the mansion - are you bored out of your mind? Are you ever allowed to leave? Does the show provide any type of entertainment for those left behind / not included on dates?9. What about when you guys travel and you are NOT on a 1-on-1 date - are you guys able to go out and explore the city on your own or are you confined to the hotel room?10. What if the show wants you to do something that you don't want to do? What are the consequences if you don't do it?11. How much alone time do you actually get with the Bachelor / Bachelorette?12. Are you guys ever hanging out with the Bachelor / Bachelorette WITHOUT cameras around? Or is the Bachelor / Bachelorette kept away from the group when cameras are not on?13. Does each contestant have their own personal handler on the show?14. Do producers encourage drug and alcohol use?15. Do producers encourage sex to happen in the Fantasy Suite?16. If you end up selecting someone to 'marry' at the end, do you get money from the show?17. How much of the drama on the show is manufactured verse real?18. On one-on-one dates it seems like no one ever eats. What is up with that?! If I'm on a once-in-a-lifetime trip with free food, I'm going to gobble that shit up before I get down to business talking about all of the serious stuff. Is it fake food?! I never understand why no one ever eats it! This is one of the things on the show that really drives me nuts.19. Lastly - do you honestly think this process works? I mean - it's not reality - it's a fantasy world of beautiful people and amazing dates in gorgeous locations all around the world - but there is no talk about how to deal with the real shit and issues that come with everyday life. Speaking only from my own experience - the unimaginably hard times, ugly times, not fun times are what have made me truly love and appreciate my boyfriend and our relationship - while the good times spent out on the town or on vacations or fun - they are not what make a lasting relationship. So how do you truly know you can marry someone based off a couple of months galavanting around the world? This is not meant to be an antagonistic question - I'm just truly trying to understand!I'm sure I've totally freaked you out by now and you are thinking 'holy shit - this girl is nuts' but hey - I figured it is very unlikely I will ever see you again (or maybe not - I could do Honduras again) so what do I have to lose?!Sincerely,Austen (I may seem certifiable but I promise I'm not)
