Drunken Canadian Goes For The Gold In Detroit River

    Really? Really?

Liquour does let your inner idiot loose and Canadian John Morillo would like his buddies to know that, despite the public mayhem surrounding his Detroit River swim, he conquered his wet drunken dream. After eight beers, the 47-year-old Canadian dived in at Windsor ON, and emerged at Detroit's Renaissance Center.

Morillo was probably under the influence of Canadian beer, so this man effectively drank a gallon of moonshine and swam to America. This is statue material. He says he earned his 15 minutes of fame when he climbed out of the water at Detroit's Renaissance Center and the people standing nearby asked if they could take pictures with him. Swimming is illegal in the Detroit River as it is a shipping lane, but once the disease and infection sets in, I'm sure he will have learned his lesson. I once liked to think that swimming in that river negated any need for immunization.

When the drunken Canadian was swimming back to Canada he saw helicopters overhead as a concerned neighbor's call had sparked a rescue effort by Canadian and U.S. coast guards. The Windsor Port Authority harbor master "was extremely mad at me," said Morillo. "Maybe they pulled him out of bed."

He has also apologized to have caused so much trouble and freely admits he's "really stupid,' which his mom also told him before hanging up on him. Just the fact that his mom yelled at him makes you assume he must be single and there's obviously a reason why.

The really bad move was when he got out of the water on the other side and shouted: "I AM CANADIAN!" Morillo was thrown in a Detroit jail over night and will be fined anywhere from $5000-$25,000. I believe US immigration should have a law called the Molson Exemption: Section 4.1.A states that "Drunk Canadians aren't really who we are worried about, eh?"
