One of my best friends married her husband in July 2014. As a pop culture lover, the thing I enjoy most about their love story is that they say the first thing they learned they have in common is a mutual love for a certain early 90s TV show called SAVED BY THE BELL. Naturally I found a way to work that into my speech at their rehearsal dinner. So here some lessons on love that any couple could learn from the kids of Bayside High.

No matter how many times she turned him down…the lovable nerd kept his torch burning bright for her. Lets be real here, Lisa didn’t bring a whole lot to the show except style and sass. The lesson to be learned there is to always stay true to what makes you, you. Never lose sight of the awesome people that both of you are and accept each other for those qualities and you should do just fine.

Jessie was the girl who learned the hard way that nobody can be perfect. Marriage can be so, so, exciting but they can also be so, so, scary and that's ok. Nobody expects you to have it all figured out right away but as long as you both put in the hard work, you'll be able to handle anything that may pile up on your plate. And keep this in mind, if Jessie Spano could overcome her caffeine pill addiction, you two could overcome anything.

AC Slater's childhood had him moving around from place to place and it wasn't until he came to Bayside that he really learned the meaning of family and having a solid support system. As the two of you begin this new chapter together, always remember the support system that you have around you.

Everyone remembers Kelly as the bubbly cheerleader. Even when some miracle zit cream turned her face bright red, our girl rose above and made the best of a tough situation. On those days when life doesn’t exactly go as planned…find that perfect cheer to lift each other up and keep pushing forward.

Zack’s ability to call a time out from life and freeze the world around him would be an amazing power to possess but unfortunately it is still not possible even with today’s technology. However, it is a good reminder to stop every once in a while to enjoy the day. While you guys start planning your future together and the beautiful family you will have, don't forget to take a time out and just enjoy the present.

After over a year of marriage, they are also expecting their first baby.
