For the first time in decades, the voters had a choice of candidates. However, there was only going to be one person with a chance of winning - Bashar al-Assad. The country has been in turmoil for several years and there were problems even before the recent events.
In the post, I go over some of the main points about the election, look at the results, analyse the turnout and cover the major issues related to the future of the country.
