6. Captain Canuck

Perhaps the most obvious character on the list Captain Canuck, decked out in his red and white spandex suit, is the most blatantly Canadian figure in comic books. If you’ve ever been to a Comic Convention in our home and native land you’re sure to see at least a few patriotic Canadians cosplaying our comic mascot.

5. North Star

This guy might be the coolest character on our list, but for reasons you may not expect. Born Jean-Paul Beaubier, a french Canadian (surprised?) mutant from Montreal was one of the first openly gay characters in comics. A proud member of Alpha flight, and later the X-Men, Jean-Paul famously married his parter in the summer of 2012.

4. Scott Pilgrim

Even though the comics have a Japanese Manga style to them, Scott pilgrim is a very Canadian, very cool young man. The comics are based in Toronto and show a tonne of hometown love, such as mentioning Honest Eds, Lee’s Palace and Canadian chains such as Second Cup.

3. Sabretooth

Along with the remaining characters on our list, Victor Creed was a subject of the Weapon X program which took place in Canada. He even helped build the Canadian Pacific Railway. Sabretooth proves to be an insanely powerful mutant with a special hatred for Wolverine, and no one can deny he is a total bad ass Canadian.

2. Deadpool

The Merc with a Mouth is becoming everyone’s favourite anti-hero. Famous for constantly breaking the fourth wall, this colourful character can always make readers laugh and/or shake their heads in disbelief. He is arguably the most entertaining comic character these days, and everyone is in anticipation of the new movie starring another cool Canadian, Ryan Reynolds.

Wolverine has become the most popular Canadian comic character there is. Born in Alberta, James Howlett is one very cool mutant. Another anti-hero, rocking his leather jacket while cruising on his motorcycle, the former lumberjack makes us proud to have him in the comic universe.
