Grey's Anatomy Doctors Are Dropping Like Flies

At some point, faithful Grey's Anatomy fans have to start wondering why the doctors keep dying in absurd and violent ways. How can you practice medicine when each year one of your colleagues (or two) is suddenly shot in the head or electrocuted? Maybe it's just me but I'd find that distracting.

Yes, tv shows on ABC are notorious for overly dramatic plot lines and yes, Grey's Anatomy takes place in a hospital so death is kinda commonplace. But the mortality rate for what are considered to be some of the world's best physicians is staggering! Family, friends, and patient deaths aside, basically every doctor who has called Seattle Grace (now Grey Sloan Memorial) home has faced a serious threat on their life of an unnatural sort. Medical students in TV Land might want to take that into consideration come time to apply for residency. Here are the folks that sadly didn't make it out alive.

6. Dr. Heather Brooks

Cause of Death: Electrocution

The show's most recent casualty, we learn more about Heather after her untimely death than we did while she was actually on screen.

5. Dr. Reed Adamson

Cause of Death: Gunshot to the forehead.

A new addition to the show after Seattle Grace merged with Mercy West Medical Center, we didn't get to know too much about Reed before her sudden and shocking murder other than that she was a bit callous, a bit slutty, and that she had a thing for Dr. Alex Karev while Dr. Charles Percy had a thing for her.

4. Dr. Charles Percy aka "Bigfoot"

Cause of Death: Gunshot to the abdomen.

Arguably a slightly more likable character than his fellow Mercy West casualty, Dr. Adamson, Charles' death was quite slow and emotional. Don't pretend like you didn't shed a tear too.

3. Dr. George O'Malley aka "007"

Cause of Death: hit by a bus while trying to save a stranger's life on the same day that he joined the army.

Wait, is the moral of this story that one shouldn't help strangers? Or that one shouldn't join the army? Hmmmmm......

2. Dr. Lexie Grey

Cause of Death: Plane crash (stuck underneath part of the plane)

This girl has had it rough. Not gonna lie. After watching her mother die from hiccups, dealing with her abusive alcoholic father, spending years trying to establish a semi-healthy relationship with her dark and twisty half-sister, surviving a confrontation with a mad man at gunpoint, and then coping with the break-up of her one true love; a borderline sex addict who decided to one day take on the role of being a father (and a grandpa) without discussing it with her, it is sad to say but maybe Lexie is better off in eternal slumber.

1. Dr. Mark Sloan aka "McSteamy"

Cause of Death: complications due to injuries sustained in a plane crash.

Really?!?! A plane crash!!?!? I'm still mad about this one. He was undoubtedly one of the best parts of the show. SMH
