Sunday, October 10, 2013, in Baltimore, MD, Twitter and Instagram were buzzing with the news of a lion sighting in West Baltimore.
Since the Baltimore Zoo is in West Baltimore, near the sighting, it didn't seem entirely far fetched.
Some claim to have seen the lion in various places around the city over West and East Baltimore
Residents didn't seem to be too alarmed, most took it as a joke
Others were worried about their scholastic futures
Animal Rights Activists were immediately alarmed
Thankfully, no one dared approached the Lion in person, although his Twitter account was found pretty quickly
Good news, he has a love interest

But finally, news came out to calm Charm City's nerves
Turns out, it was just a dog... a dog, people
The Baltimore Zoo Spokesperson, Jane Ballentine, confirmed that all their animals were accounted for
Turns out, the circulating lion photo was from a news report in London of August 2012
News of the let down was crushing
However, in the midst of the confusion, one resident dared to use this opportunity to speak about bigger issues regarding timeliness of Baltimore's Mass Transit System
