Sandra Oh Has "Moved On" From "Grey's Anatomy" And Will Not Be Returning For The Rest Of The Series

"I left that show, my god, seven years ago almost. So in my mind, it’s gone. But for a lot of people, it’s still very much alive."

🚨This post contains massive spoilers for Grey's Anatomy Season 17!🚨

Earlier this week, Grey's Anatomy was officially renewed for an 18th season on ABC with star Ellen Pompeo confirmed to return as well.

🎉🎉 Someone grab me a crash cart because #GreysAnatomy is coming back for Season 18! 🎉🎉

Over the course of Season 17, viewers watched as Meredith reunited with fan-favorite characters like Derek Shepherd, George O'Malley, Mark Sloan, and Lexie Grey — who all were killed off in past seasons.

Now that it's been confirmed Meredith will survive until at least Season 18 and we just got a bunch of delightful cameos, fans began to wonder if maybe there'll be a Meredith-Cristina reunion soon too.

Luckily, Sandra Oh appeared on this week's episode of the Los Angeles Times' Asian Enough podcast, and she answered that exact question for us.

When asked if she'd consider returning, she said, “No. I love it, though, and this is also why I really appreciate the show…that I still get asked this.”

"In some ways, you do your work as a bubble and you let it go. I left that show, my god, seven years ago almost. So in my mind, it’s gone. But for a lot of people, it’s still very much alive. And while I understand and I love it, I have moved on."

So while we now officially know we won't see Cristina on our screens again, Sandra also gave a little insight into how she thinks Cristina would be handling the pandemic.

"Cristina, like I imagine all the healthcare workers, [would be] wickedly at the front line trying to solve the big problems."

So there you have it. Unfortunately, Sandra Oh will not be returning to Grey's Anatomy, but you can absolutely still watch her on Killing Eve, Raya and the Last Dragon, and soon on The Chair.
