12 New And Returning TV Shows To Get Excited About This August

There are so many great TV shows coming this month, like Season 3 of Only Murders in the Building, Season 2 of Heartstopper, and the newest Star Wars series Ahsoka.

1. Only Murders in the Building Season 3

Our favorite murder podcast trio is back and better than ever. Season 2 left off with a time jump one year after Oliver (Martin Short), Charles (Steve Martin), and Mabel (Selena Gomez) figured out who killed Bunny (Jayne Houdyshell). Now, its opening night of Oliver's new show, and the leading player (Paul Rudd) drops dead onstage — looks like we've got another mystery for the Only Murders gang to solve! Meryl Streep, Paul Rudd, Jesse Williams, and Ashley Park will also be joining the cast this season.

2. Heartstopper Season 2

Netflix's beloved series hits the platform this month. Now, with exams, a school trip to Paris, and prom on the horizon, the gang has got a lot to juggle as they learn to balance their own love lives with being plain ol' high schoolers. Nick (Kit Connor) and Charlie (Joe Locke) will learn how to navigate their new relationship now that they're both out. Meanwhile, Tara (Corinna Brown) and Darcy (Kizzy Edgell) will face unforeseen challenges, and Tao (William Gao) and Elle (Yasmin Finney) finally work out if they can ever be more than just friends.

3. Ahsoka

Ahsoka is the newest installation to the Star Wars franchise and is set within the timeline of The Mandalorian and after the events of Return of the Jedi. Now that the Empire has fallen, former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) must investigate an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.

4. One Piece

5. High School Musical: The Musical: The Series Season 4

Our favorite Wildcats are back from an unforgettable summer at Camp Shallow Lake and ready to take on their senior year and put on a fantastic fall musical, High School Musical 3: Senior Year. But of course, things go awry when Disney has finally decided to make High School Musical 4: The Reunion and film it at their school — meaning a TON of the original cast will be back to bask in the East High glory. Corbin Bleu, Lucas Grabeel, Monique Coleman, Kaycee Stroh, Bart Johnson, and Alyson Reed are among the original HSM cast to join the series this season.

6. Harlan Coben's Shelter

Based on Harlan Coben's best-selling book, the series follows the story of Mickey Bolitar (Jaden Michael) after the sudden death of his father leads him to start a new life in Kasselton, New Jersey. Mickey quickly finds himself tangled in the mysterious disappearance of a new student at his school, which leads to uncovering unimaginable secrets within their quiet suburban community. With the help of his friends, Spoon (Adrian Greensmith) and Ema (Abby Corrigan), Mickey discovers Kasselton's dark underground that may hold the answers to decades of disappearances, deaths, and legends.

7. Reservation Dogs Season 3

The third and final season of Taika Waititi's critically acclaimed series hits Hulu this month. This season, the Rez Dogs find themselves stranded in Cali and have to figure out their way back home. After making it back to Okern, Elora (Devery Jacobs) considers the idea of college, Bear (D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai) comes across a conspiracy theorist named "Maximus" (Graham Greene), Willie Jack (Paulina Alexis) becomes more invested in healing her community, and Cheese (Lane Factor) is still living with his grandmother who's not his grandmother. Meanwhile, the aunties, uncles, and elders explore their pasts and try to heal old wounds.

8. Solar Opposites Season 4

Solar Opposites returns for its fourth season. This time around, Dan Stevens will officially take on the role of Korvo, replacing Justin Roiland after he was fired from the series. In Season 4, the gang will pack up the sci-fi and get normal... but just for a second, of course. Then it’s back to classic Solar chaos, mayhem in the Wall, and some all new Silvercops adventures!

9. The Winter King

The Winter King is a new take on the well-loved Arthurian legends, based on Bernard Cornwell’s Warlord Chronicles series. The series is set in the fifth century, long before Britain was united, in a brutal land of warring factions and tribes, where lives were often fleeting. The series follows Arthur Pendragon (Iain De Caestecker) as he evolves from outcast to legendary warrior and leader.

10. The Chi Season 6

This season, life in The Chi is full of the highest highs and lowest lows. As Emmett (Jacob Latimore) and Kiesha's (Birgundi Baker) dreams come true, they realize their bliss comes at a cost. Meanwhile, Douda (Curtiss Cook) deals with the fallout of Q’s murder and its effect on the shifting loyalty of his inner circle. We'll also see how Victor’s (Luke James) love for his new girlfriend will impact his political ambitions. Jada (Yolonda Ross) will also mentor Emmett and her besties as they navigate their own relationships.

11. Painkiller

Based on Barry Meier's book Pain Killer and the New Yorker's famous piece "The Family That Built an Empire of Pain," this series is a fictionalized retelling of events that explores some of the origins and aftermath of the opioid crisis in America. Highlighting the stories of the perpetrators, victims, and truth-seekers, we'll see just how lives were forever altered by the invention of OxyContin.

12. Finally, Physical Season 3

This season, Sheila's (Rose Byrne) busy building her empire now that she's a national sensation. Kelly is bubbly and blonde — everything Sheila isn't. Now, as the stress gets to Sheila, her recovery, her empire, and pretty much her entire life is at risk.
