Steve Harrington and Eleven were originally meant to appear in only the first season, then be [killed off](https://www.teenvogue.com/story/stranger-things-almost-killed-off-steve-eleven-season-1). According to creator Ross Duffer, Eleven would "sacrifice herself to save the day" and Steve was just "supposed to be this giant douchebag." The Duffer brothers also didn't anticipate the show being renewed.

In the first episode of _Sex Education_, Eric [mentions](https://www.reddit.com/r/TVDetails/comments/af1hue/in_sex_education_eric_mentions_that_he_heard_that/) that Adam is so ~well-endowed~ that it's comparable to two Coke cans stacked on top of each other. Later on, Adam opens his locker and inside we see two Coke cans stacked on top of each other. \*wink wink\*

During Season 2, Episode 7, while BoJack drives to prom, a DeLorean is seen zooming by. The prom's theme is also "A Night Under the Sea... Under the Stars." Both pay homage to _Back to the Future_. A [Reddit user](https://www.reddit.com/r/TVDetails/comments/9qfuyd/in_episode_escape_from_la_where_bojack_horseman/) also pointed out that this episode shows BoJack in an "out of place scenario" and getting involved with his former fling's daughter — much like what happens to Marty McFly when he attends his parents' prom.

In "Hang the DJ," Amy finally realizes that she's in a simulation when she notices that she can skip a rock only four times, no more and no less. "Hang the DJ" is also the fourth episode of the fourth season. Chills.

In the Christmas special of _CAOS_, "God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman" plays during the final scene. The Spellmans don't celebrate Christmas, BUT the song's [lyrics](https://www.reddit.com/r/TVDetails/comments/a77h6x/in_the_chilling_adventures_of_sabrina_christmas/) are about being saved of "Satan's power," something Sabrina has tried to do throughout the entire series.

When Joe is creepily watching Beck reading in the bookstore, you can see the _Gossip Girl_ series on the shelf behind Beck. Penn Badgley, who plays Joe, also starred in _Gossip Girl_.

Not having met before the show, Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini became friends instantly. The two were so close that after they'd finish filming a scene, the crew would keep the camera rolling and let Applegate and Cardellini [improvise](https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&t=801&v=HTfcYOvuNXg). A lot of those moments made it into the final cut.

In the pilot, Cassandra and Harry perform in the play _Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead_ and toss a coin that repeatedly lands heads up. In real life, Harry and Cassandra fight over who should become the new leader, and Cassandra tosses a coin that repeatedly lands on tails. This [parallels](https://www.reddit.com/r/NetflixTheSociety/comments/bob4p8/rosecrantz_and_guildenstern_are_dead/) the sudden supernatural occurrences and overall spookiness that are part of the play.

In the first season, Ming Zhang is considered a suspect because he is the only member of the "Morning Show 9" without an alibi. In Season 2, we find out that Ming's name appears in the credits for shooting extra footage. In Season 2, Episode 8, Ming can be seen at Nana's party filming amidst the mayhem.

The three guys Nadia sees at the bodega in Episode 1 appear a few more times throughout the series. The catch is that they return as different characters. The actors reappear in Episode 2 as Nadia's coworkers and as EMTs. One even returns later as the unibrow guy who bumps into Nadia in the park.

Chavo Guerrero Jr. is the badass trainer for Netflix's _GLOW_ cast. But his uncle, Armando Guerrero, was actually the pro wrestler who trained the real life Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling in 1985.

In Episode 2, the book Theo is reading is written by Shirley Jackson, who is also the actual writer of the _Haunting of Hill House_ book.

They met at a book signing, found out they were neighbors, and the rest is history!

The repeating outfits made it easier for the creators and audience to weave together all five dates and make them seem continuous.
