7 Things Seniors With No Career Choice HATE

These 7 things are probably stuff you shouldn't talk to a senior in high school with no plans about.

1. Asking "what is your career choice"

Normal teenagers are asked a solid thousand times what their career choice is. And for most kids it's an easy respond. "I want to be a teacher", "I want to be a doctor", I want to be a pilot". However, for the kids who still don't have a plan, when you ask them that sort of question for the hundredth time, odds are they're tired of hearing it and would rather you ask them ANYTHING but that. How about asking us what we DO know, rather than what we don't.

2. Trying to "help" find them find a career

Senior with no career choice or plans are absolutely desperate for help. And they would love for someone to come along, smack some ideas infront of them, and say "CHOOSE ONE" however, that doesn't happen. And most people when they try to help, they just make matters worse, and they make said senior even more upset and depressed than they were prior to your "help"

3. Asking "where have you applied for college?"

Asking kids with no plans where they've applied for college, is like asking a woman who isn't pregnant which Doctor she's going to have deliver her baby. It. Doesn't. Make. Sense. A lot of times, kids with no career choice or plans want to go to college more than anything in the world, but they don't know what they want to do, so where are they supposed to apply? When people ask those questions, you not only make us mad, you just sound plain ignorant.

4. Assuming we don't have good grades.

So many times, we stereotype the kids with good grades as the kids with big plans and the future, and the kids with bad grades as the kids with no plans and no future. Well there's news for you folks, sometimes, kids with decent grades actually don't have plans. *gasp*

5. Telling them "you better hurry up"

Trust me when I say this. Seniors with no career choice feel rushed enough. You don't need to tell them they only have 3-4-5 however many months to make a decision. I promise you, they know. The kids are more pressured, more stressed, and feeling more upset than you even know. They crave a plan more than anything, and they don't have one. You telling them how much time they have left just adds a good 10 pounds on top of the mule.

6. Telling them about YOUR plans from when you were a senior

Telling a senior with no plans about your plans isn't helping them, it's probably boring them to no end, and might even make them feel extra lousy because you're just telling them how you had everything planned, which reminds them, oh yeah, they don't.

7. Assuming they're going straight into the workforce

No, not every kid who doesn't have a career choice aspires to go straight into the workforce. Suppose they actually are planning on going to college and just haven't figured out where? Just because we don't have a plan doesn't mean straight to Walmart cashier we go.
