Its Botanical name is Epiphyllum oxypetalum. Also known as " QUEEN OF THE NIGHT ".Nishagandhi is the name given because the flower bloom only in the night. The flower looks like a cradle with the star and hence its name " BETHLEHEM LILY ". Its blooming stage complete by Midnight. Buds of the flower start to appear on the edges of the leafy stem. Propagation of Nishagandhi is by stem or leaf cuttings. In India it is called Brahma Kamalam, named after the Hindu god of creation, Lord Brahma. It is believed that the wishes of people who pray to God while the flower is blooming will be fulfilled.
