Madonna Says She's "Lucky" To Be "Alive" One Month After Being Hospitalized For A Bacterial Infection

“As a mother, you can really get caught up in the needs of your children and the seemingly endless giving..."

Last month, Madonna was rushed to the ICU after suffering from a bacterial infection and spent several days in the hospital.

It sounded pretty scary and was serious enough that her upcoming world tour was postponed, and has yet to be rescheduled.

A few weeks ago, the pop icon broke her silence since being hospitalized, promising her fans that she was "on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life."

Now, one month after her hospitalization, Madonna has offered an update with a new Instagram post in which she expresses her gratitude for surviving the ordeal.

"Love from family and friends is the best medicine," she wrote before thanking her children for their support, accompanied by photos of her with her children David and Lourdes. "One month out of the hospital and I can reflect."

"When the chips were down, my children really showed up for me. I saw a side to them I had never seen before. It made all the difference."

Madonna also shared a picture of a "gift" she'd recently received — specifically, a Polaroid taken by Andy Warhol that features Keith Haring wearing a Michael Jackson jacket — and revealed that the present provoked strong emotions within her.

"I sobbed when I opened this gift because I realized how lucky I am to be alive," she wrote. "And how fortunate I am to have known these people and so many others who are also gone."
