If you've been online, like, at all in the past several years, you know that people have strong opinions about Chris Pratt.
Relatedly, back in 2019, Pratt defended Hillsong Church — which he attended at the time — after Elliot Page referred to the organization as "infamously anti-LGBTQ."
OK, so, this past weekend, a Twitter user tweeted a picture of Patrick Wilson next to a picture of Pratt and said, "Marvel. Hear me out. Just...replace him," referring to Pratt's role as Star-Lord in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.
For some reason, James Gunn — the director of the first, second, and upcoming third GOTG films — replied, and he wasn't happy.
"For what?" Gunn asked the user in response to their suggestion. "Because of your made-up, utterly-false beliefs about him? For something that someone else told you about him that’s not true?"
Gunn then went on to say that Pratt would "never" be replaced in the role of Star-Lord — and if he was, "we would all be going with him."
In a follow-up tweet replying to a user who's since locked their account, the director seemingly addressed the chatter around Pratt's past Hillsong membership. "I know the church he currently goes to. Do you?" he said.

"The answer is you don't," he continued in a lengthy parenthetical aside, "but you heard from someone who heard from someone who heard from someone where he goes to church, so decided, 'Yeah, okay, I'll believe this terrible thing I heard online about this celebrity!'"
So, uh, yeah. Moral of the story, as ever, is "never tweet" — and yes, that applies to Gunn too.
