The world continues to respond to the Supreme Court's landmark ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade, ending the constitutional right to have an abortion in the United States.
In the tweet, Cher revealed that she suffered three miscarriages when she was younger — and the first was when she was 18 years old.
"I was alone in our house," Cher wrote while describing her miscarriage at the age of 18, saying that her late husband, Sonny Bono, came home and found her "sobbing" and "rocking on our floor."
By the time they arrived at the doctor, Cher said, she was "screaming in pain" and couldn't even hold herself back for the elevator ride.
Cher also said that when the doctor saw her, he sent her straight to the hospital and "operating room" so she could receive proper care.
"WHAT WOULD HAPPEN 2 ME TODAY," she concluded.
Indeed, as Cher points out, some cases of miscarriage require the same surgical and medical procedures as abortion to remove any remaining fetal tissue — another reminder of how the Supreme Court's decision compromises reproductive healthcare for all.
