That's Not Tinsel, That's A Fucking Snake

    Merry Christmas, Australia!

An Australian woman was shocked on Sunday to find a snake, possibly masquerading as tinsel, wrapped around her Christmas tree.

The tiger snake, nestled between baubles and a Christmas cracker, was quickly captured and released into the wild by professional snake catcher Barry Goldsmith.

"I've found snakes around the base of the Christmas tree before, but never in the tree," Goldsmith told BuzzFeed News.

"It did look a bit like tinsel! It was a very pretty snake."

The woman, from Frankston, Victoria, remained calm throughout the removal of the unwanted decoration.

"She was very sensible," Goldsmith said. "The snake didn't want to hurt me – snakes only bite when they're scared or hurt."

Tiger snakes, found across southern Australia, are venomous and their bite can be fatal.
