Reasons You Should Absolutely Not Care About Or Vote In The LUSU Elections

You probably shouldn't even read this.

Because you don't care about funding for sports teams.

LUSU Full Time Officers, particularly the VP Activities works with sports teams, the sports centre and organises Roses. They see that sports team get good funding, use of pitches and are represented. If you vote for the person you think will do this best, you are doing your bit for your sports teams. But you probably don't care about that.

You also don't care if the academic resources you need are available.

Be it the library, the learning zone or online resources the VP Education represents students in these areas making sure they are fit for purpose and student focused. The library hasn't always been open for 24 hour a day you know. But you probably don't care about that! That money could be better spent on sports teams or something right?

Making sure there is equal focus on various parts of the Union and University's activity is a big part of a Full Time Officer's role. By voting you are seeing that money, time and resource is put into the areas that matter to you most.

You absolutely don't care about student politics

And that's because student politics involves words like Policy, and Manifesto and Student Rights and Welfare and Support and Representation and Equality... And because it never achieves anything like gaining extra funding for sport, or better space for societies, or having a 24-hour library or having Wednesday afternoons free. Wait...

You don't care because you have nothing to do with LUSU and it does nothing for you.

Because you never attend Campus Festival, Roses, Battle of the Bands, volunteering events, Christmas Market and you aren't in a society or sports team and you never go to Sugarhouse or use LUSU shops. And even if you do attend them, you definitely don't care if they are good! That's for the elected LUSU Full Time Officers you didn't vote for to worry about.

You absolutely should not care about the elections because...

You voter code gets emailed to you. Then you click a link that takes you through to voting. You tick a few boxes and its over. If you don't have a voter code emailed to you, email [e-mail] with your library card number and they will send you one.

But if you change your mind and do decided to vote because you realise you do care about these things...
