When Gabrielle Union was at the Sundance Film Festival premiere of The Birth of a Nation, the actor was asked about her thoughts on Stacey Dash's recent comments about BET.
And Union pretended to have no idea who she was.
After joking around about Stacey Dash's relevance, Union went on to speak about representation in the entertainment industry:
"It's like why there's a need for The Birth of a Nation and why there's a need for the Country Music Awards and the ALMA [American Latino Media] Awards — if you don't see yourself reflected in mainstream awards, you tend to create your own. And until there's no longer a need for that, I celebrate the ALMAs the same way I celebrate the Country Music Awards and the same way I celebrate the BET Awards and the [NAACP] Image Awards, which we'll all be at in a couple weeks."
