The Legally Blonde movies are iconic pieces of early 2000s cinema. That's not debatable.
The return of Y2K fashion and the recent influx of reboots means it's only fitting that Legally Blonde would be the next film to get the "better late than never" trilogy treatment.
With Mindy Kaling attached as one of the cowriters, the upcoming Legally Blonde 3 is already pretty much guaranteed to be amazing.
We also already know that Reese Witherspoon is returning as both the star and the producer — but another iconic character is now officially set to make her grand return.
While promoting her work with PanCan, Mindy told E! that, though the production is "still in development," she has plans for Paulette Parcelle — played by Jennifer Coolidge.
Paulette “I’m taking the dog, dumbass!” Parcelle was Elle's nail tech turned close friend.
Since she last played the spunky manicurist in 2003's Legally Blonde 2, Jennifer has earned critical acclaim for her role as Tanya McQuoid on the 2021 HBO series TheWhite Lotus.
Turns out, Mindy "loved" Jennifer's performance in The White Lotus, and it inspired the approach she's taking to developing Paulette in Legally Blonde 3.
"Obviously, Paulette was just, like, so integral to the whole franchise, but once we saw [The White Lotus] we were like, 'Ooh, we really want to make sure that she has something really juicy to do,'" Mindy said.
No release date has been announced yet, but I can't wait to see what Paulette is up to in Legally Blonde 3.
