*sips champagne in between laughing* ... "NO"

A woman named Sabra recently caught the attention of nearly nine million people after she shared this TikTok of her happily refusing to give up her first-class plane seat so a kid could sit by their family:

@lifewithdrsabra

That’s a no from me dawg 🤣 would you have given up your seat? Also they ended up finding a solution so no, i am not a terrible human being. Also the child was like 13.

In the video, you can see Sabra smiling over her decision with audio that says, "Girl, fuck them kids and fuck you too."

And it didn't take long for people to start applauding her.

Most everyone agreed that if parents want their kid to sit next to them, it's their responsibility to plan accordingly beforehand.

good for you! if they wanted their kid next to them they should've booked adjacent seats (shrugging emoji)
I remember Stewie from family guy said ma'am your poor planning does not constitute an emergency for me. You'll see him in Paris. Go sit down

Fellow parents even agreed with this.

nope cause as a mom it's a parent's responsibility to plan ahead. Just traveled to Europe for 1.5 months with my toddler and no one had to move
as a parent, you didn't do anything wrong

Some even wonder if parents do this on purpose to avoid airline fees for seat selection.

i wonder if some family actually on purpose buy the cheapest tickets to plan to ask someone for their seat, i got kids, please move

Either way, people think the airlines need to offer compensation if they are asking people to give up their original seats.

never switching unless it's an upgrade others poor planning is not your fault

BuzzFeed talked to Sabra who said she was flying Air France from Seattle to Paris — a 13+ hour flight. "I often get upgraded to first class on domestic flights thanks to my Delta status but this was my first time flying first class internationally where you get the 'real' business class experience. So that was one of the reasons why I was particularly excited about this flight and the seat that I had purchased and picked in advance."

And she clarified that the airline asked her to switch before she even got on the plane. "The gate agent called my name before boarding. They were nice and asked me if I was willing to switch seats. I asked to see the alternative on the seat map. It was still first class but all the way in the back. I kindly said that I'd rather keep the seat I selected and she didn't insist. They went ahead and found another resolution pretty quickly," she explained.

Sabra said the airline didn't offer her anything to switch seats but she also doesn't think asking something like this is wrong as long as the airline — or the person asking — is okay with people saying no. "In this particular instance, it seemed to be an airline issue and not the parent's poor planning."

And Sabra herself admitted that she has asked people if they were open to switching seats in the past. "Some people agreed and some refused and it was just fine in both instances. So, I think it's okay as long as no fuss is made if people say 'no.' Saying no is not necessarily a lack of empathy. You can be kind and empathetic and still choose not to sacrifice your own experience and comfort for someone else's. I also think that parents should plan to sit together when they fly with their kids," she concluded.
