How Much Do You Really Know About Water?

The average adult human body is made up of about 50-65% water.

There are five oceans including the Arctic, Atlantic, Indian, Pacific, and Southern.

The Pacific Ocean is the largest, covering an area of around 155 million square kilometers (60 million square miles).

Water, being neutral, has a pH of 7.

It was believed that there were only seven seas on earth, including the Mediterranean, Caspian, Adriatic, Red Sea, Black Sea, Persian Gulf, and Indian Ocean.

It is recommended that human adults drink at least 8 glasses of water per day. This should be adjusted according factors such as your activity levels and the temperature of your environment.

Whilst fresh water makes up 2.5% of the total water on Earth, only around 0.3% of that is in liquid form on the surface.

Ice makes up just 2% of all water on earth. This ice accounts for 68% of our fresh water.

The latest figures from 2015 showed that 663 million people, or 1 in 10, still don't have access to safe water.

There is the same amount of water on earth as there was when the earth was formed, this is thanks to the earth's water cycle. This also means that you've probably drank dinosaur urine more than a few times...

Due to factors such as climate change, population growth and increased urbanization, it is estimated that by 2025, half of the worlds population will face water scarcity.

The general rule is that humans can survive three minutes without air, three days without water and three weeks without food. These times will vary depending on your physical health and your environment.
