Minus Size Clothes - Is This A Thing Now?

After coming across an online clothing store catering for 'minus' size clothes, I debate whether we should embrace, or dismiss this shop.

Plus size clothes have been a thing for a while now, most high street stores have a special section on their website for plus size women to easily find clothes. We've pretty much embraced this, encouraging all women to be happy with their bodies, no matter what their size. We're attempting to eliminate fat shaming and preaching body confidence to women across the world. Hurrah - we're all happy! Right?

Minus size clothes appear to be a little more tricky to find! Whilst we're all out celebrating 'real women' and their curves, we're shaming others for being too skinny.

Has anyone else noticed smaller sizes disappearing off the high street? I know I have. There's only a limited number of shops you can buy a size 6, and you might as well give up looking for a size 4. When I searched online for "minus size clothes" I could only find one store, MinusTen.co.uk. The rest of the search results were full of blogs debating the idea of minus size clothes, or news articles discussing plus size.

Why can't I find any other specialist minus size stores? Well of course, we don't want to encourage anorexia. I'm not sold on the idea that clothing companies can cause eating disorders. Anorexia is a mental illness, and currently BEAT, a UK eating disorder charity, have recently tweeted that "Environment loads the gun, genetics pull the trigger", when it comes to eating disorders. So can clothes stores stocking a clothes size really make teen girls anorexic or bullimic? I don't think so. So will this store thrive or fail? Will it end up buckling under pressure from the masses to rebrand or stock larger sizes to encourage equality? I suppose we'll have to wait and see.
