Daisy Ridley Quit Instagram Over The Pressures Of Growing Up In Front Of Millions

    "I have a lot of growing up to do. I have to deal with loads of stuff myself personally. For that to be projected with millions of people watching, that is like a bit of an extra pressure."

    For those of you who remember Daisy Ridley on Instagram, she was pretty damn great.

    She was funny, she gave us glimpses of the Star Wars set and cast, she sent out powerful messages, and she was also pretty cute on it.

    She also used it to send out positive messages about things like body image.

    Well, last month she decided to quit the social network following some online abuse.

    She had received some backlash after posting an image of herself following the Teen Choice Awards earlier this year while commenting on gun violence.

    She wrote alongside the image: "Thinking about how lucky I am like......... Serious bit: as I sat in the audience yesterday tears were streaming down my face at the tribute to those that have been lost to gun violence. I didn't get a great picture of the incredible group that came on stage but they were so brave. It was a true moment of togetherness. We must #stoptheviolence."

    And now she has explained her decision to leave.

    Daisy, who had amassed 2.3 million followers when she quit Instagram in August, was attending the Student Academy Awards in Los Angeles when she spoke out about it.

    She said: "I felt a pressure being on it. I was like 'I need to post. Oh my God, it's been this many days'. It's actually been kind of nice not to be on it.

    "I'm 24. I have a lot of growing up to do. I have to deal with loads of stuff myself personally. For that to be projected with millions of people watching, that is like a bit of an extra pressure."

    But she hasn't ruled out ever returning to it. She added: "I think some people handle it well. Just right now it's not for me, but who knows."

    Although she does still post on her Facebook page, so Daisy fans still get to see her there!
