8 Thoughts Everyone Has At Graduation

Oh my...is it time to be an adult, already?

    1. Is it time to get a job yet?

You convince yourself to have ages before graduation to sit yourself down and apply for jobs. You think to yourself that it will be easy to get one, you'll apply and then they'll immediately love you and offer you the position. You quickly learn it doesn't actually work out that way.

Rejection email number 45...and still counting

    2. I have to move...really?

So you love where you went to university...whether it was a major city, a different country or perhaps somewhere closer to home. Either way, unless you get a job immediately, have rich parents who are willing to pay your rent, or actually have managed to save money whilst being a student..chances are your options will be limited and you may have to move back to the parents house.

Home is where the heart is after all...isn't it?

    3. Your sleeping pattern will have to change.

You've been going to bed at 6am and waking up at 3pm in the afternoon...thats how it works in the real world, right?

Duh, wrong. Standard working hours are from 9am - 5pm people...get with it if you want to live in the real world.

    4. Napping.

It may be your reality now but you're in for a shock if you think it can stay that way. Naps at 2 in the afternoon are about to become history my friend...its potentially frowned upon if you fall asleep at your desk.

    5. Going out on a weekday.

Monday - Friday is your standard full-time working week. No more going out on student nights on a Wednesday unless you want to wake up on Thursday at 6am to start your painfully long working day hungover.

    6. Boxset Marathons

You have the weekends, but chances are you're going to want to make the most of them considering you'll be at work all week.

Therefore, I'm sad to say, it may be time to say goodbye to those 24 hour boxset marathons you've been having.

    7. Making food at random o'clock

Whilst it is possible to still want to have a fried egg on toast with four pieces of bacon at 3am. Its possible that when you have to get up at 6:30am for work, this isn't an option you're necessarily going to have after graduation.

No more 3am random meet ups with your other student flatmates.

    8. Should I just carry on...

    The ultimate thought everyone has.

Should I do a masters or postgraduate degree so that I can live like this forever?

I like academia, maybe this path is for me?

I could do it...it'll be another year of being a student and not having to think fully about what the future holds.

I've been there. Thought that. And still haven't decided.
