5 Reasons To Travel And Leave It All Behind

1. When anxiety has got the better of you.

When your life feels like its a never ending cycle of stress and anxiety maybe its time to re-evaluate what it is that makes you happy. Travelling is a great way to let everything that you think is important go and realise what it is that you want out of life. The ability to throw yourself out there with no commitments, no security and the loss of all of the things you consider a necessity in your life is a great way to understand who you truly are without the pressure and the stress of whatever it is that's causing your anxiety.

2. If you're trying to get over someone.

Trying to escape someone perhaps isn't the best reason to go and a lot of people believe that you should stay and sort these things out rather than try to run from them. However maybe sometimes the best way to move on is to remove yourself from the situation and get on with your life? Travelling allows for mistakes, difficult decisions and a whole load of freedom. It's good just to leave the past in the past and move forward with your own future.

3. If you have a breakdown.

An emotional breakdown by no means spells the end for you, but it is a big indicator that something is fundamentally wrong with your current situation. Whether it's a job you don't love, a person who's broken your heart, or just a combination of a number of big life changes, travelling is an escape in the best way possible. Maybe don't jump into it straight away, but give yourself time to plan and look forward to the break. A breakdown should spell the beginning for a positive change in your life.

4. When you need an adventure.

Finishing a major point in your life can spell a need for adventure. Whether its graduating university, finishing a major assignment at work or maybe you've just experienced a major life event and now feel the need for some excitement, travelling is great way to do those crazy things that you might not even consider doing normally. Skydiving, rafting, bungee jumping, sailing...the list is endless. Get on that plane and have an adventure.

5. If you just need a change.

You might not be having a break down, you might not have anxiety, you might not hate your job. But that doesn't mean that you don't need a break. Maybe its just time for you to leave what you're currently doing and discover what your next step is. Removing yourself from everything that you know is the best way to find out who you truly are, especially if you go outside of your comfort zone and throw yourself into something new, exciting but also terrifying all at the same time. Travelling, especially travelling alone, is not for the fainthearted. It will be hard but so so worth it. If you need a change, go out and get it.
