Welcome to the website of Trinity College, University of Cambridge. Trinity was founded by Henry VIII in 1546, when he combined two existing colleges (King's Hall and Michaelhouse) and seven hostels (Catherine's, Garratt, Gregory's, Ovyng's, Physwick, St Margaret's, and Tyler's). Since then Trinity has flourished and grown, and is now a home to around 600 undergraduates, 300 graduates, and over 180 Fellows.

Trinity exists to give its members a rewarding, richly resourced, and intellectually inspiring place in which to pursue their education and research.

Princes, spies, poets and prime-ministers have all been taught here, and members of the College go on to a very wide range of professions and careers after taking degrees in all the subjects the University offers.

College life is lively and diverse, with students coming here from all over the world as well as from all kinds of different schools in the United Kingdom.

In this section of the website you can find out more about the History of the College, both in outline and in more detail. Amongst other things, there is also a short anthology of references toTrinity in literature from Chaucer to the present day. You can also find out more about the Master and Fellows of the College, and the Charities that the College supports.

You can take a Virtual tour of the College, exploring its history and architecture; and perhaps gain an impression of what it is like to live here now. If you would like to follow this up with a visit in person you might like to visit our Visitors to Trinity pages (you may find the information about Finding Trinity helpful).

The Library and Chapel are high points of a visit to Trinity, and both are important parts of College life for a number of its members. The glory of Trinity's chapel is its Choir composed of talented male and female choral scholars, who put considerable energy into singing beautifully alongside reading for a degree.

If you are interested in applying to be a student at Trinity, please visit our Study at Trinity pages, where you will find information about the admissions process (for both Prospective Undergraduates and Prospective Graduates), and also about Living in Trinity. You can also find information about events taking place in College from the College Calendar.
