5 Reasons To Listen To Kenzie Moore Right Now

Really good new music can be hard to find. You can try the radio, of course, but the it's very likely that you'll be hearing the same song on three different channels. Spotify, Pandora, and Soundcloud are great, if you know what to look for. But there's always a chance you could miss someone great- someone like Indie-Pop artist Kenzie Moore, whose first album "Stories" debuted in January. Here are five reasons you should be listening to Kenzie Moore right now.

    1. The Adele Aesthetic

Let's face it, Adele is in again. She was in last year, and the year before, and she'll no doubt continue topping the charts in the future. But if you're ready to take a break after 500 listens to "Hello," I'd give Kenzie Moore a try. She's got that bluesy feel down, a comparable range, and similarly poetic writing.

    2. The Return of Variety

If the newness of the artist herself isn't enough, it helps that every song on the album gives you something different; which is not something you can say about every popular artist. From the power ballad "Invisible" to the eerie smoothness of "Eyes Never Lie," no one track sounds the same.

    3. Catchy, But Not Annoying

Catchy; it's a word used both positively and very negatively. A catchy song can be a blast to listen to, but after a few days it can be your worst nightmare. This isn't the case for Kenzie Moore's music. One of the catchiest songs on the album is "You and Her," and it can be described that way because of its up-tempo rock-and-roll vibe that alternates with lyrical beauty and the powerful lines "you're in love with her and/she's in love with you and/it's a godamm tragedy cuz/I wish I was with you."

    4. The Title Song

Even if you don't have the time for the whole album, its title song is worth a listen. "Stories" is full of powerful imagery, telling a story itself while simultaneously commenting with amazement on the creation of stories within time. Kenzie's voice moves seamlessly with the music, wandering through the notes the same way she wanders through time.

    5. The Return of the Artist

It can be difficult to call some music these days "art." What one person loves can easily be dismissed as repetitive, auto-tuned, or mechanical. This is not the case with "Stories." Kenzie's cover of "Wake Me Up" turns the popular EDM song into a lyrical beauty with somber and reflective tones. Every song shows off her abilities as a singer-songwriter, rather than the abilities of others to create for her. This combination of artistic qualities leads to a fun, inspiring, and exciting listen.
