Which Popular Song Do Most People Not Know Was Written By A Black Musician?

There are many to choose from.

If you're anything like me, you love music with your whole heart, and you love learning any kind of information you can get your hands on — especially when you discover a really good song.

There have been so many incredible songs over the years made famous by big artists and bands, but a lot of people don't realize that some of them were actually written by Black musicians.

For instance: "Manic Monday" by The Bangles was actually written by Prince for the band because he loved their music so much.

And "Ball and Chain" by Janis Joplin and Big Brother & the Holding Company? The number that made Joplin well-known to the rock community in the late 1960s? It was written and performed by Big Mama Thornton first.

And remember Faith Hill's classic Christmas song "Where Are You Christmas?" from How the Grinch Stole Christmas? It was originally written by Mariah Carey to perform herself.

Whatever the song is, we want to know! Tell us which song most people don't know was actually written by a Black musician in the comments below.
