17 Small Rom-Com Moments You Probably Never Cared About Until Reading This Post

Mark Ruffalo in 13 Going on 30 is simply *chef's kiss*.

We asked the BuzzFeed Community to tell us which underrated rom-com moments people don't talk about enough. Here are the brilliant results.

Note: Not all submissions are from Community users.

    1. In Someone Great, when Jenny writes a love letter to Nate on the train about their breakup, knowing she'd never send it to him, but still needing a space to pour her heartbreak.

Jenny writing: "Do you think I could have one more kiss? I'll find closure on your lips, and then I'll go"

"I cry EVERY TIME at this ending monologue. This is truly an amazing movie, and not enough people appreciate or know about it."

    2. In The Holiday, when Miles and Iris are at his piano, and he reveals he wrote a theme song for her only using "the good notes."

Iris and Miles laughing at the piano while Miles plays Iris' theme song
    Sony Pictures Releasing

"It's so simple, but sincere and romantic."

    3. In To All the Boys I've Loved Before, when Peter leans on Lara Jean's shoulder in the back of the bus and snuggles up to her in the cutest way.

Peter asking Lara Jean: "Hey, I'm really tired. Can I use you as a pillow?"

    4. In Bridget Jones's Diary, when Mark subtly defends Bridget when the couples at the dinner party bombard her with questions about being single in her thirties.

Bridget asking a married man: "Tell me, is it 1 in 4 marriages that end in divorce, or 1 in 3?" Mark: "1 in 3"
    Miramax Films

"It's such a sweet moment of Mark being on Bridget's side when she least expects it."

    5. In 10 Things I Hate About You, when Patrick tucks a piece of Kat's hair ever so slightly behind her ear after a romantic afternoon of playing paintball.

    "It's just so tender."

    6. In My Big Fat Greek Wedding, when Ian is baptized into Toula's church to show his love and commitment, and her immediate family comes to watch in both surprise and admiration.

Toula: "Any minute now he's gonna look at me and go: You're so not worth this." Nick: "Yes, you are"
    IFC Films

"This whole scene is such a sweet moment, and it gets me every time!"

    7. In When Harry Met Sally..., when Marie (aka Carrie Fisher) delivers this hilarious one-liner to Sally when she spots Harry spying on them in the bookstore.

Marie to Sally: "Someone is staring at you in Personal Growth"
    Columbia Pictures

"I love this Carrie Fisher line and have definitely quoted it!"

    8. In Sleepless in Seattle, when Sam is nervous about going on his first date since his wife died, and asks his best friend if his butt looks good enough.

Sam asking Jay: "So, how's my butt?" Jay: "Not bad!"
    TriStar Pictures

"It's so silly and doesn't really add anything to the main story, yet it's a kind of conversation you really have with your best friend. It's such a 'breath of fresh air' moment because most rom-com dialogue feels superficial."

    9. In How Stella Got Her Groove Back, when Stella and Winston inch closer and closer to each other on the blanket as they watch the sun set.

    20th century Fox

    "Come ON now."

    10. In But I'm a Cheerleader, when Graham secretly touches Megan's arm during one of Mary's boring anti-gay presentations, unafraid to show how she feels about her.

    Lions Gate Films

    11. In Queen & Slim, when Queen and Slim dance together for the first time at the juke joint, and a future conversation between the two characters plays in the background instead of music.

Slim: "What do you want?" Queen: "I want a guy to show me myself. I want him to love me so deeply, I'm not afraid to show him how ugly I can be"
    Universal Pictures

    Suggested by: J.T. Babbsie

Note: Queen & Slim is also considered a drama.

    12. In A Lot like Love, when Oliver and Emily pull their car to the side of the road and take a naked self-portrait of them kissing in the moonlight.

    Buena Vista Pictures

    13. At the end of Love & Basketball, when Monica and Quincy's daughter cheers her mother on while she's playing basketball, and Monica happily looks back with love and admiration.

    New Line Cinema

    14. In 13 Going on 30, when Jenna surprises Matt at his apartment asking him to go for a walk, and he gives her this sweet, doting stare in return.

Jenna: "You want to go for a walk?" Matt: "Sure"
    Sony Pictures Releasing

    15. In Always Be My Maybe, when Mrs. Kim (aka Judy) teaches young Sasha how to make kimchi-jjigae with love and care, which ultimately inspires Sasha to become a chef when she's an adult.

Sasha cutting green onions as Judy tells her with love: "Look at you, you're a natural!"

    16. In Booksmart, when Amy jumps in the pool at Nick's party and explores her surroundings underwater in the most freeing way, which unfortunately results in heartbreak.

Amy swimming underwater while this song plays in the background: "Take my hand, take my everything, if we only got a moment, give it to me now"
    United Artists Releasing

"The entire movie is so good, but this scene is something else, especially with the soundtrack in the background. You feel exactly how happy Amy is when she's going into the water, and it's almost ethereal. Then it's all taken away from you when, well, *it's* revealed. You need to watch this movie."

    17. And in While You Were Sleeping, when Jack describes the romantic concept of "leaning" to Lucy, and as he does, they slowly lean into each other.

    Buena Vista Pictures

"There’s this pause where they both realize they're doing it, and that they have feelings for each other :)."
