Just 40 Practical Products That Are Probably Missing From Your Life

Hello, spray that'll finally rid your yoga mat of sweat stink.

    1. An endlessly reusable, nonadhesive hair remover roller you can just glide over your furniture to suck up the seemingly impossible amounts of fuzz your beloved fur baby deposits on a daily basis. Yes, you can now wear black pants and have company over! Maybe even both at the same time!

    comforter mostly clean

Promising review: "I have no idea how I lived so long without it. I literally wish I could find the words to describe how incredible this thing is. I could slap myself for not buying it sooner. I have an 85-pound golden retriever who SHEDS. Not normal shedding — I'm talking this dog has so much hair it's ridiculous to clean up. I vacuum every day and run the Roomba when I'm working. But there was nothing besides lint rolling that I could do for the couches, pillows, sheets, etc. Until this. When I got it, I used it really quickly on our ottoman, which has a ton of dog hair on it just from existing in our living room. Ran this back and forth a little and I kid you not, all the hair was gone. Took it to the couches, sunroom furniture, all the throw pillows, and the bed sheets (which is absolutely life changing), and it removed 98% of the hair. I contemplated buying another one so my husband and I could tag team everything that needed fur removal. I cleaned the couch cushions tonight and when I sat down on the couch (IN A BLACK SHIRT) I had no dog hair on me when I got off the couch. This thing is absolutely incredible and has surpassed any expectation I could have had. I'm not one to give into gimmicky 'miracle' products but this one is legit. Just buy it!" —Nichole

    2. Asutra's 100% natural yoga mat cleaning spray to cut through the sweat and stink that's lurking in your beloved workout companion *and* leave an aromatherapy-tastic, essential oil-powered fresh scent behind.

spray bottle of lavender spray and blue towel on a mat
dirty towel showing how much gunk was wiped from reviewer's mat

    It's from a woman-owned self-care brand that's partially owned by Venus Williams!

Promising review: "I have used many yoga mat cleaners, and this one is the best! It does a great job at both daily cleans and deep cleanses — I didn’t realize how dirty my mat was until I saw the difference using this product. It also smells fantastic; I have the lavender. The smell is very strong, makes my room smell like lavender, and the mat continues to smell nice for days. So definitely pick a scent you like. The towel it comes with is a nice bonus. I will be purchasing again." —sp

Get the spray plus a microfiber cleaning towel from Amazon for $13.99 (available in seven scents).

    3. Flip It! bottle emptying kit, which'll convert any pesky pump bottle that's impossible to get the last few drops out of into an easily squeezable container you can store upside down without leaks. Whether it's ketchup or lotion, you'll never waste another ~flipping~ drop of product again.

reviewer's lotion bottles flipped upside down with gray stand caps
hands squeezing last bit of purell out of a bottle with the cap

It comes with two stands/caps and six adapters to fit any size bottle. Just make sure it's a bottle that can actually be squeezed, since it won't work with totally solid bottles.

Promising review: "Life-altering. I will never fight with a pump bottle again. As soon as it gets difficult to pump anything out of any bottle, I will waste no time in 'flipping it.' I'm so glad someone created this. Upside-down bottles are such a small annoyance in life, but this simple solution really means a lot. 100% worth the price." —Amazon Customer

    4. Handy dandy faucet extenders to make getting your kiddo's (often v nasty) hands clean less of a hassle. They'll also feel so grown-up when they can actually reach the water!

kid washing hands under white and gray faucet extender, which makes the water come out closer to the front of the sink
    Amazon

Promising review: "Before I knew a thing like this existed, I spent the time it took to wash my squirming kiddo's hands one at a time wondering how long it was going to take for his arms to grow enough to reach the faucet. I'm so glad I have this thing now! The setup is just taking it out of the box and stretching the rubber part around the faucet; took two seconds plus some time to adjust to the best angle. Now I can wash my 15-month-old's hands at the same time, and the whole process is much faster and easier. He liked it right away too! A bit too much honestly. The worst part about this product is my toddler grabbing it and trying to use it as a water launcher, but that has been easy enough to avoid. The little rubber part pivots a bit so there is flexibility in how you wrap it around your faucet and what angle the water comes out of the chute, but it doesn't pivot THAT much, so as other reviews have mentioned, it won't work with upward-angled faucets." —Michelle G.

    5. A soothing hand and finger massage roller that's an under-$10 life-changer for folks who could use a ~hand~ with pain management.

    model using roller on palm
reviewer's finger between two sides of roller

Promising review: "This is one of those OMG wonderful products. I have arthritis in my hands and fingers and am amazed by how much better they've been feeling since I began using this handy little roller on them. And because I have multiple sclerosis, I get a lot of nasty nerve pain in my hands and fingers. If you have these types of pain in your hands and/or fingers and like me, you may find yourself rubbing them a lot when they hurt. This just does an even better job of getting to the the pain to help relieve it. I keep it close by so I can use it throughout the day. Since I do art work, play guitar and keyboards, sew, and do a lot of typing on my computer, I need my hands and finger to feel good. Adding this little device to my arsenal of pain fighters is a huge plus! I can't imagine living without it now. It actually feels to use it even when I'm only feeling slight or no pain." —Wilhelmina Zeitgeist

    6. A genius paw cleaning tube you just put some water in, ask your pupper to ~paws~ at the door and let you put their yucky feetsies in, and voila — no more muddy tracks in the house!

reviewer's dog with muddy then clean feet
dog holding up paw in front of large blue cleaner tube

Promising review: "Best. Thing. Ever. This product works like a charm. It gets the sand from between their pads and is gentle enough that even my most stubborn pup tolerates it! I have a terrier/Schnauzer who likes to dig, a mini Goldendoodle who's prissy about her paws, and a standard Labradoodle puppy who's still very fuzzy. We have a farm where it's extremely sandy and we stay in a travel trailer. The amount of sand they were tracking into the camper was ridiculous. Now it takes me three minutes to clean and dry off all of their paws. Seriously the best purchase I have made!" —Rachel

Get it from Amazon for $12.99+ (available in three sizes, with or without a lid, and in six colors).

    7. reviewer's super dirty and stained door
door restored to clean and white

Promising review: "WOW!!!! This stuff is amazing. I literally just have to spray it, let it sit for a few minutes, come back, and depending on what I’m using it for I either wipe it and it comes right off or I just use a scrubbing pad and it comes off. There’s nothing out there that is anywhere in comparison to this product!!!! This stuff is the absolute best. I highly recommend purchasing this. I can tell you that half of my cleaning products are now going to be thrown out because all I need is The Pink Stuff 😀😀. Whoever invented this stuff is an absolute genius; if you’re a clean freak like me this really is the way to go. Also it doesn’t have that nasty chemical smell, it smells great. Just buy it you won’t regret it." —Twin33

    8. Wad-Free, a clever invention to solve all your sheet-washing woes. It'll help your sheets dry faster and with fewer wrinkles, and prevent them from trapping all the clothes you throw in there with them in the dreaded tangled-up ball. Where have these been your whole laundry-doing life?!?

    9. Durable all-purpose wipes made with aloe vera and vitamin E for everything from your hands to your car to tricky stains like grease, makeup, adhesives, and permanent marker. Paper towels are cancelled.

hair dye stain on reviewer's mirror frame
    the dye gone

Note that while these are great for messes and stains, they don't disinfect.

Promising reviews: "These towels are awesome for so many things. They are large and very sturdy, so they work well for household cleaning. The real benefit for me, though, is having a wipe that works for things like the grill, the oven, the dashboard of my car, muddy shoes, chairs and umbrellas that go to soccer games and practices, and lawn furniture. I frequently wipe something down, rinse the towel, and wipe again. The wipes are heavy enough to go through three to four rinses and wipes and still hold up. The smell is mild and doesn't linger on my hands or what I've wiped down. I use these almost daily, so the 90-count canister lasts about three months and the last towel is never dried out when I get to it. The lid closes securely, yet is easy to open and the towels dispense easily through the opening without getting bunched up. Because the canister is heavier than most, and the lid fits well, it's easy to throw one of these in the trunk or cargo area, and I don't worry about it leaking. The canister (minus the lid) is recyclable when the towels are gone — an added bonus." —COMom

"My son had painted on numerous different items in my house. I thought it was the end after trying baby wipes, Clorox wipes, and paper towels....I then tried these after a final act of desperation, and they wiped up the dried acrylic paint like it was butter!!!! 100,000/10 recommendation." —RyanH

No more wondering and guessing how much my bag weighs! It’s small and feels pretty sturdy. I like how it’s a strap with a hook versus the others that just have a hook. reviewer showing clear round bumper on inside of cabinet door
close up on half inch diameter bumper

Promising review: "Best thing I have ever bought for my kitchen. Say goodbye to the heinous noise of slamming cabinets. My mother is notorious for just letting go of the cabinets and letting them slam shut, so before she came to visit I installed these and I couldn't have been happier. They keep the noise to a minimum and likely help to improve the longevity of the cabinet doors by reducing the impact. They are easy to install (although time consuming for all the cabinets in the kitchen) and mine have not fallen off after five months of use. When installing, I pressed them onto the cabinet hard for a 30 count before letting go. I think this is required to make them long-lasting. My father installed these at his home after he visited and his fell off because he just placed them on the cabinets like a sticker. After installing a second with the same method I used, he has not had any fall off." —Dave Carlson

It's really versatile and can easily double as a folding table for all sorts of other purposes, too! Reviewers say they've used it for everything from a craft table to a vanity.

Promising review: "I love this desk! It is just the right size, sturdy, and extremely easy to assemble. The assembly pretty much consisted of taking it out of its box, opening up the frame/legs of the table (they are already screwed together and ready to go), and snapping the tabletop into the frame. Done! It is lightweight and portable and looks perfect as an office corner in my bedroom." —Richard Lawson

It's from a small biz based in Atlanta, Georgia!

Promising review: "Like many, my fur child will not allow anyone near his nails. After the first two attempts with this, I thought it wasn't going to work — he just did not want to scratch. But the third day, I got it out and asked him to scratch and off he went! You definitely want to check his nails to make sure they are somewhat even. Mine had a nail that was shorter than the others so it was getting close to the quick. We use hotdogs (chicken and turkey) as his treat, and we made sure that this is a treat he only gets when doing his scratches, which makes it even more exciting. Still have to work on the back paws but I'm confident he will get there. We got the medium and coarse, the medium is just fine. I think the coarse would be too much when first training since you'll want to do it more often. Highly recommend!!" —tinarydar3

Get it from ScratchPadForDogs on Etsy for $44.95+ (available in medium or coarse grit or a combo and in four styles).

I normally have difficulty falling asleep, but now I can't wait to put it on, because I Bluetooth it to my phone and turn on my sleep meditation and I promise you I am sleep in about 10 mins or less. 27. A snaking tool to free your drain of all the hair that's festering there. I've always thought I had a strong stomach for before and after photos, but, people, I think we have found my limit.

clean tool about to go down reviewer's drain
tool covered in clumps of hair from drain

Promising review: "Works so well I might not eat for days. I live in an apartment complex and the maintenance people are pretty strict about not using drain cleaning chemicals but rather calling them to unclog a slow-draining bathtub or sink. However, I have pretty long hair and I'm certain that the maintenance people don't get paid well enough to go up against the horror that's been building up in my bathtub drain over the past several years. When I got the Vastar snake drain cleaner I went straight to work. No instructions needed, the concept is pretty simple: You grasp the tool with the end that's a handle, push the pointy end down the drain, and the jagged part catches on the nest of hair that's swirled its way around your plumbing. I didn't even get the thing 3 inches down before it was getting stuck on clumps of hair and built-up gunk. I gagged my way through getting all the nausea-inducing blockage lurking in my bathtub's drainpipe. It's now clear to me why this is a three-pack...there was simply no way I was going to be cleaning off the plastic tool and reusing it. Very happy with this product, glad it comes in a pack." —K.

Then I gave it a try with a couple of shirts I had just washed, and next thing you know I simply had to do my entire drawer! Everything folds so pretty, neat, and easy. same reviewer's hangers organized and ready to grab from organizer rack

Promising review: "You know, it’s the simple things that can make life sweet. I ordered two of these, initially one for my daughter, and one for myself. But it is awesome. I’ve always struggled keeping hangers sorted and orderly, while doing large amounts of laundry. First of all, these hold a lot of hangers. Second of all, I’m a hanger snob lol, and have more than one style, hence the reason I kept both. And third, I love that I can grab them by the top and carry them from closet to laundry room; they’ve really helped me reduce a bit of extra work when it comes to getting the laundry done. I have lots of skeletal issues, arthritis, spine surgery, etc, etc. this makes it just a little easier for me." —Valerie Foster

    31. A zipper repair kit that'll make fixing the fastenings on bags and jackets without the help of a pro (or just giving up and tossing the item) a breeze even if you're not at all handy.

The kit includes 11 replacement zippers in common sizes and designs, four bottom stopper replacements and six top stopper replacements, plus illustrated instructions and access to a customer service line that'll help you figure out exactly the replacement part you need.

Promising review: "Incredibly easy! Big money saver! Amazing! Within ten minutes of opening the package I had repaired the zippers on two ski jackets. A tailor wanted $14 each to replace the zippers and I would have had to provide the zippers. It came with enough parts to fix several more. Wish I had known about this handy product a long time ago." —gbdoc

    32. Athena Club's natural, plant-based, aluminum- and cruelty-free deodorant, which will make you take back pretty much everything bad you've ever said about natural deodorant. Plus, the pretty packaging and scent will actually have you looking forward to swiping it on in the morning (trust me).

Two things I used to believe: 1) That putting on deodorant would never be something I looked forward to and 2) natural deodorants just didn't work as well and I was stuck with my regular drugstore brand (rhymes with Schmecret) instead of the effective aluminum- and cruelty-free formula that was my white whale. But now, slap me in Cabin 6 and call me Annabeth Chase, because I'm a dutiful daughter of Athena (Club). The first thing I noticed when I got my sample of this magic stuff in the mail was the sleek and pretty packaging that feels all Insta-worthy on my countertop. Then, the smell — I really don't like perfume-y, overpowering scents, but this was so mild and beautiful and natural-smelling (I picked scent No. 2, a rose, sage, vanilla, lime and cedarwood blend). But most importantly, it heckin' WORKED. And it actually makes me smile a little when I put this goodness on every day!

Promising review: "The second handy item from this seller that I’m loving! For years now, my mixer heads have taken up valuable space in my cabinet and when you have limited space, you look for solutions. This gadget is now installed under a cabinet out of the way. I think it actually looks like a bit of kitchen sculpture. A clever solution to keep clutter at bay!" —esmosmom

    34. A roll-up dish rack you'll want whether you usually do dishes by machine or by hand, because it's so much more than a dish rack. It'll save you a ridiculous amount of counter space, both during cooking and cleanup, since you can use it to dry dishes, thaw meat, and strain veggies, or even as just another place to put cutting boards and dishes during meal prep. And when you're done, you can just roll it up and put it under the sink!

Promising review: "I've used this for about six or seven months so far and can't imagine living without it! I use it Every. Single. Day. It's great as a strainer as I'm prepping veggies; it holds a ton. It's perfect as an extra shelf/counter space when I'm making several things at once. It's awesome to set hot pans on, fill with water, and let them soak for a while. And it's especially helpful to defrost on! Things defrost so much faster on this — I think it's because there is terrific air flow all around the item, but who knows? Most importantly, the food is up where I can see it while it's defrosting, instead of sitting down in the sink. Before this rack, every now and then I'd forget something was thawing down in the sink, give the room a quick eye-sweep before going to bed, and wake up in the a.m. to meat that sat out all night. Never happens with this; haven't had to toss a single thing. It is probably the most versatile, handy, useful thing I own." —Susan

    35. An easily accessible hanging changing table organizer new parents absolutely swear by for keeping everything right at hand when things get messy. One time you never want to be disorganized? When there's baby poop involved.

It can also be hung on a wall!

Promising review: "Don't know how I lived without it! Before I bought this, I had to stash diapers and wipes under the changing table and bend down and grab when needed. I also had a pile of burp cloths on a side table, and all the baby's outfits in drawers. I bought this and it CHANGED MY LIFE. I keep the wipe warmer on it, as intended, always have easily and readily accessible diapers, burp cloths in one side pocket, and outfits in another. I hung this on the wall next to the changing table so I have it at an easily accessible height, ready to use and to grab whatever I need. I Love the nursery organizer and would recommend to anyone who asks." —Louis Klapper

BuzzFeed Shopping editor Emma Lord writes: "This also comes in other pretty colors, but I am especially partial to this one because I bought it for my parents (their kitchen is entirely pink and one of my favorite places on Earth), and this was SO EASY to use — not to mention super safe! I'm a big weenie about fire (lol, self-preservation) so I've always stuck to extended arm gas lighters, but this is much better for the environment (plus cuter), so I feel a lot better about using it."

Promising review: "Wow. This thing is amazing. Small and so easy to use. My husband kept saying it won’t actually light anything and was blown away when it did. We lit candles and paper to use as tinder with absolutely no effort. No fuel needed. Just a quick recharging. And no waste in throwing away those huge and never easy to use butane sticks. Love love it. Easy buying process so I would recommend everyone buy one." —Diane Bold

    37. A very helpful soap-dispensing dish brush to keep your hands far away from all the gunk and spare you from ever touching an icky sponge again. Forget reaching for multiple products — just grab this wonder and get all your plates, pots, and pans clean in a flash.

reviewer holding the soap dispensing brush
close up on brush head and button with text

I actually put this in my dad's stocking last Christmas, but it was a gift for the whole household. The handle is the perfect length and thickness to give you lots of control while keeping your hands clean, and the soap-dispensing button is so easy and satisfying. It does need frequent refills, but those are easy — just unscrew the handle! I also didn't even realize it has a built-in scraper on the end till just now, so I can't wait to try it out and potentially fall in love with this thing even more than I already have.

Promising review: "The best dish brush! Bristles are tough but soft. They don’t break down over time easily. And they don’t scratch my dishes. Soap dispenser has a button to squirt out dish soap easily. Works well, every time. Biggest con for me is how little dish soap it holds. But then again, I’m known for using A LOT of dish soap, so it’s partly my fault for using it all up so quickly. It’s a small con for me since this is easily my favorite dish brush I’ve had. I bought a second one and filled it with Dawn and white vinegar and keep it in my shower to clean as I shower. Super easy and doesn’t feel like a chore. Highly recommend!" —SMH1106

Promising review: "These are so clever, useful, and such good value for money. I purchased them for my son who is a glasses-wearer and has eczema at the back of his ears, which mask strings seem to irritate further. They help immensely but he also says they are so useful regardless of the eczema, because they stop mask strings from tangling in the arm of his glasses. Would absolutely recommend; so simple but so ingenious." —Louise
