30 Cheap Things To Treat Yourself To

A taco coin purse, pens perfect for color-coding, clever nail polish storage, and more under-$25 goodies to start the year off right.

    1. Colorful fine-tipped pens that have the write stuff to make any office-supply nerd's dreams come true, and are *ideal* for color-coding your planner to make those resolutions reality.

The pens, which each had the color of their ink shown on the tip of the cap

They work for everything from color-coding to note-taking to journaling to coloring.

Promising review: "These really don’t bleed/show too badly through college-ruled or lined paper (or regular printer paper), and I LOVE them for schoolwork. They've made my life so much easier and prettier! They glide much more easily than regular pens. I also love that they seem to never dry out despite the fact that I’ve been using them for at least two weeks now and have left the most-used black marker open for several long periods already. I've come back to still find plenty of ink and no change in the writing ability. I think these are great-quality pens and definitely worth the purchase." —NATTYLIGHT

It is a blackout mask, and trust me, if you have it on correctly, you will not see any light at all. I normally have difficulty falling asleep, but now I can't wait to put it on because I Bluetooth it to my phone and turn on my sleep meditation, and I promise you I am sleep in about 10 minutes or less. I accidentally overslept last week because I forgot to turn my alarm back on, and when I took off the mask, the sun was shining bright, so I knew I was late — thankfully, not too late. 12. leave-in curl conditioning and detangling spray that is designed for kids but will be a treat for your adult hair, too. This year, no more torturing your curls with a brush that refuses to go through knots and dreading washing your hair because of it!

Reviewer's child's curly hair before using the spray and defined shiny curls after
Reviewer pointing to their gorgeous curly hair

Promising review: "This is the BEST product EVER! I will never use another hair detangler ever again. We use this product daily in my house — my daughter, my son, and I. Both of us girls have long and thick curly hair, and it allows us to brush through our hair with no problems! And my son mostly uses it to style his hair before gel and because it smells so good! We tried a few products from Walmart, Ulta, and Target, and nothing was good enough. This is now on my Subscribe & Save every month!" —Tamira McLelland

Get it from Amazon for $9.69 (or $9.21 with the Subscribe & Save option).

    13. A portable nail polish storage case that can hold up to 48 bottles and has adjustable compartments on the side for other tools and products, because your trusty nail polish collection deserves better than being shoved haphazardly in a drawer (and you deserve better than all that clutter).

I have this myself, and while I wasn't sure about it at first, I'm now really glad I bought it. It's a lot larger than I expected, but once I started filling it up with my polishes, I realized it needs to be! There's room for 24 bottles plus other tools on each side, and so far I've only filled up one side — I feel that justifies the purchase of more nail polish, LOL! It definitely beats the sad ziplock bag or loose counter storage I was using before. It's a bit too large for travel, unless you were to pop it into the bottom of a suitcase for a long-term trip, so I will just pull my fave polishes out and stash 'em in my toiletry bag when I'm on the go. But for displaying in my bathroom in my apartment, it's so aesthetically pleasing and makes me so happy! And I have the polishes inside organized by color, which makes me feel fancy. Two pro tips: 1) Don't try to open it when it's standing vertically, or things will fall out — lay it flat instead. 2) Decorate the sides with stickers, because your laptop is full, and you need a place to put all your extra stickers!!!! Or, at least, that was an unexpected bonus for me. 😃

It comes with toe separators for a bonus gift!

Promising review: "This is PERFECT for organizing and storing your nail polishes and tools. You can organize them by color, brand, season, however you want! The polishes take up less space, and you can clearly see them and choose what you want for your next mani. Also, you can store them upright just like salons do. It's perfect!" —Arielle Mansion

Get it from Amazon for $21.98.

    14. A pair of giant adhesive googly eyes to help you bring pretty much anything to life. Forget all your other resolutions — all that matters is sticking these on as many things as possible in 2023. I can't for the life of me tell you why I find the personified bush below so funny, but I do.

    Bush with giant googly eyes
    Car with eyes on headlights

Promising review: "These are awesome! I bought them along with a giant mustache to decorate an unsightly file cabinet that was placed in front of my desk at the office. They make everyone smile when they walk by, and they also serve as an early warning for earthquakes. It was a little tricky to remove the backing to stick them on the cabinet, but once I got it started, they were easy to apply, and they've stayed on with no issues." —S. Freeman

Get them from Amazon for $2.69.

Promising review: "I am extremely happy with my purchase. This lip gloss has the most perfect texture and is very glossing. It lasts very long. For example, today I applied the gloss at 1 o'clock and even played basketball and took a three-hour nap, and I woke up and my lips were STILL glossy and moisturized. The gloss is beautiful and very pleasing to the eyes. All of the lip glosses have a nice smell." —Amanda prak

    It's from a woman-owned self-care brand that's partially owned by Venus Williams!

Promising review: "I have used many yoga mat cleaners, and this one is the best! It does a great job at both daily cleans and deep cleanses — I didn’t realize how dirty my mat was until I saw the difference from using this product. It also smells fantastic; I have the lavender. The smell is very strong, it makes my room smell like lavender, and the mat continues to smell nice for days. So definitely pick a scent you like. The towel it comes with is a nice bonus. Goes on smooth, and you don't need to use a lot. I put it on before I put on my foundation. Makes a huge difference. Highly recommend and will buy again!!" —Leslie Mattingly

"Normally, my makeup goes on great, but then once it dries, it's super crusty and shows my pores. This made everything so smooth, and my skin has never looked so healthy. Even after I took my makeup off, my skin felt moisturized, which is a hard thing to do with my dry skin. I saw the hype all over social media about this primer and I never believed it, but I finally decided to take the plunge and test it out, and now I'll never go without it." —Taylor Kessinger

Promising review: "Things at work have been super stressful lately, and as a result, I’ve been losing morale. This little guy makes me smile whenever I’m sitting at my desk a bit frustrated. The lettering was fine on the mug I received, and the paint seems fine. I would keep the cardboard panel with the flames on it to give it better context. I just taped the cardboard flames onto my pencil holder. Love this little guy." —Cheryll

Get it from Amazon for $25.52.

    21. An origami-inspired corgi necklace no lover of fuzzy, pointy-eared, stubby-legged, sentient loaves of bread should be without.

Model holding bottle of body wash with arms covered in suds
    Athena Club

Confession: Ninety-five percent of the time, I'm a good old-fashioned bar soap person. But it was definitely a treat when I was sent a sample of this body wash in the not-at-all-overpowering rose vanilla scent. I keep it at my family's home in Montana, and it feels extra good on those visits when my skin is really put through hell. By the time I shower, I'm dealing with dry skin from swimming and high-altitude climate, pore-clogging sweat and sunscreen, irritants and allergens like mosquito bites, horse dander and tall grass, and just plain being dirty — you get it. This stuff feels SO GOOD on those days. The creamy texture feels like a cleanse and a lotion all in one. It's so soothing, and I get out of the shower truly feeling refreshed.

Promising review: "So thick and creamy. I’m loving how soft and silky it makes my skin. It really aids in a close shave." —Toni M.

Promising review: "I have had these for a while now and felt like a review was in order. I've been using them throughout my house, and because I am an avid retro gamer, they fit right in. I've been surprised by how resistant they are to beverages leaving moisture, or if I need to rinse them off from a drop/spill. They don't seem to wear down or fade at all. I had to get used to tilting my drink a little before lifting, though, so they don't stay sealed to the bottom (from any moisture) and come with it, but a worthwhile trade-off for them. Everyone loves seeing and using them." —Amazon Customer

Promising review: "My new favorite deodorant!!!! Works waaaaaaaay better than the big-name brands. And a huge plus that it’s all organic ingredients. I was a little nervous trying it out for the first time because I’m usually a sweaty person. I was worried that this wouldn’t hold up against my body’s natural odor, but it did!!! I got home and smelled no BO. I definitely recommend this product; never going back to my old deodorant!!" —Karina Lagunas

I love that these are handmade. The packaging is also very cute. (It says on the back, 'It's time to cat in style,' and I 10,000% agree with that statement.) Highest recommendation." —mms

Promising review: "Not just for sponges! I saw this while surfing through Amazon home goods, and decided that a) I was enough of a cat lover that I had to have it, and b) it might just solve my habit of sending my honey’s bar soap flying off the ledge in the shower when I’m blinded by shampoo suds. So far, so good! It suctioned right to the wall, and it seems like the hold has stayed solid through normal use so far. I didn’t do any special scrubbing of the wall first, just wet down the suction cup itself, and voilà. I don’t know how it will do when the bar soap gets smaller, but I assume it will be fine." —Lizbeth
