8 Incredible Shows For People Who Love Fast-Paced Plots

I guarantee you'll be hooked on these shows quickly!

    1. Scandal

Kerry Washington as Olivia "Liv" Carolyn Pope, Katie Lowes as Quinn Perkins, and Guillermo Diaz as Huck in the show "Scandal."
    ABC

It has EVERYTHING: political scandal, murder, steamy romance, a secret organization, and, at the center of everything, a woman who seemingly has it all. Olivia Pope and her associates are fixers; they work with high-profile clients in the center of political action: Washington DC. If you love action, romance, and mystery, this one is for you!

    2. Switched at Birth

Katie Leclerc as Daphne Paloma Vasquez and Vanessa Marano as Bay Madeline Kennish in the show "Switched at Birth."
    Freeform

Two teenage girls realize that they've been living with the wrong family their entire lives! The families try to adopt their biological children into their lives, but challenges arise and confrontation occurs. This has some lovey-dovey romance, awesome character development, and thrilling scenes that will have you on the edge of your seat. Oh, and you'll learn sign language along the way!!

    3. Into The Night

Several people raise their hand in unison while standing aboard a plane.
    Netflix

A group of people are stranded on a plane as the sun starts to kill everything. The plants, the animals...it seems nothing can survive the beams. But, the plane keeps flying. With short stops for fuel, food, and resources, the plane keeps traveling west, never touching the sun. However, with time running out, the group has to figure out how to escape the plane without seeing the sun. This has action, betrayal, and people at the edge of their mental state. Originally in French, I would recommend using subtitles and not watching the dubbed version.

    4. Grace & Frankie

Jane Fonda as Grace Hanson and Lily Tomlin as Frances "Frankie" Bergstein in the show "Grace and Frankie."
    Netflix

I mean, with Jane Fonda on board, how could you not love this show?! Grace and Frankie team up after their husbands reveal that they're gay and have been sleeping together for the last 20 years. You get in a lot of laughs as two women in their seventies open a new chapter in their lives. Witty, funny, and sometimes embarrassing, this show is for anyone who craves a fast friendship story built from crisis.

    5. New Amsterdam

Ryan Eggold as Dr. Maximus "Max" Goodwin, Freema Agyeman as Dr. Helen Sharpe, and Janet Montgomery as Dr. Lauren Bloom in the show "New Amsterdam."
    NBC

This is for everyone sick of Grey's Anatomy. This medical drama follows Dr. Max Goodwin as he tries to balance his new job as medical director and his home life. Full of love, scandal, betrayal, loss, and heartbreak, it's an easy-to-follow show that makes you feel good in the end. We get a peek into the lives of doctors, surgeons, and psychiatrists and all the challenges they face with working in a massive hospital in the heart of New York.

    6. Away

Hilary Swank as Emma Green in the show "Away."
    Netflix

This show is for all science and astronomy lovers! Emma Green is commanding the first mission to Mars, and not only does she have to conquer the toughest journey in human history, but also deal with her family issues. Her daughter is left alone with her dad who has just had a stroke, and Emma is on the verge of abandoning her mission. With feuds between crew-mates, ground control, and the spaceship itself, a crew must find its way to Mars without killing themselves first.

    7. Mortel

Carl Malapa as Sofiane and Nemo Schiffman as Victor in the show "Mortel."
    Netflix

A young boy with a troublesome life named Sofiane encounters an evil voodoo spirit after his brother goes missing. The spirit plays on what Sofiane will do to get his brother back. Would he kill another soul for him or let him die? But, when Sofiane declines an offer posed by the spirit, it creates a mess in the lives of everyone close to Sofiane. This show is suspenseful, mysterious, a little bit scary, and, of course, romantic. It's a French show, and once again, I recommend watching it in French with subtitles.

    8. And finally, The Queen's Gambit

Anya Taylor-Joy as Beth Harmon and Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Benny Watts in the show "The Queen's Gambit."
    Netflix

A brilliant young girl named Beth begins a journey through chess. Everybody doubts her at first; I mean, why would a girl in the 1960s be good at chess? But, then she wins. And wins and wins and wins. Until she crashes and burns. Beth struggles with the loss of her family, friends, and brilliancy until she pops a tranquillizer pill and the chessboard begins to make sense again. This show perfectly portrays the darker side of being a child prodigy, struggles with addiction, loss, friendship, and, ultimately, teamwork. I rate this 10/10 and would recommend it to any soul who crosses my path. Go watch it! Now!
