Did This Guy Just Take A Picture Of The "Jersey Devil"?

Last week, a New Jersey resident named Dave Black took what he claims is a picture of the Jersey Devil, a famed cryptid believed by some to inhabit the Pine Barrens region of New Jersey.

According to NJ.com reporter Kelly Roncace, whom Black contacted with the photo, Black was driving home from work when he thought he saw a llama running in and out of the trees lining the road.

Black wrote, "If that wasn't enough, then it spread out leathery wings and flew off over the golf course." (Emphasis mine.) Black quickly took several photos, though he said only one (above) turned out. In a follow-up email, he assured Roncace that the photo was neither photoshopped nor staged.

"The mind plays tricks on you," Black wrote. "A friend suggested that maybe it was an animal running and an owl grabbed it, the photo being a combination of them. That's still not my first instinct, but I don't know how to explain it otherwise." Whaaaaat?? Disgusting! Let's look closer.

Which is worse — that this photo contains proof of the existence of the Jersey Devil, or that it shows an owl carrying a goddamn llama or something? I can't decide.
