5 People We Would Love To Host The Daily Show

It was publicly announced yesterday that Jon Stewart would be leaving The Daily Show after 17 years. While we are devastated, we have some potential hosts in mind-- only one of which is a white male.

Jessica Williams

A current correspondent on The Daily Show, Williams has an idea in mind already of what she wants to see in media today.

She believes pop culture can, and should, be used to analyze its effect on the world. "There's something missing in all this new new media craziness, and that is something that uses celebrity news as a way to get into a really serious analysis of our culture," Williams wrote.

She brings in a fresh vibe to The Daily Show that could kick start a huge change to late night talk shows.

Samantha Bee

Another correspondent from The Daily Show, Samantha Bee is a wonderful candidate to be the next face of The Daily Show.

In 2012, in fact, she surpassed Stephen Colbert as the longest-running correspondent of The Daily Show.

She knows the ropes forwards and backwards, and brings a strong presence to the table. But would she be great in charge of it all?

We're keeping her in mind, for sure.

Craig Ferguson

Recently, Ferguson decided to leave The Late Late Show. After a good run, he lost interest and enjoyment-- leading him to the decision.

He wasn't too passionate about the routine schedule that came with his late night talk show... But could he enjoy hosting The Daily Show?

This could be an opportunity for him to redevelop a night talk show for his own benefit, and for ours.

Aziz Ansari

Before you judge too quick, Aziz Ansari has energy like no other. He is wonderful as Tom Haverford on Parks and Recreation, and his humor would bring something new to the table.

We haven't seen Ansari in too many news-providing roles, but we would love to see it. His standup has been loved by many, and we'd love to see him commit to a regular late night show.

It is also convenient time-wise, considering Parks and Recreation is coming to a close soon. (RIP)

Amy Poehler

Last but certainly not least is Amy Poehler.

Poehler has become very famous in the last decade with her infamous role as Leslie Knope on Parks and Recreation. She, and Tina Fey, also hosted The Golden Globes where we got to see them both shine.

If anything was proven during The Golden Globes this year, it's that Amy Poehler is willing to bring world controversy into her comedy to make a serious point.

Poehler is a strong woman that has proven success to live up to the reputation of The Daily Show.

The Daily Show needs a big name to keep the inertia going... Not to mention Poehler can reshape the image of night talk shows, just as our other candidates.

We will also leave you with this image in mind:

What if Amy Poehler took over for Jon Stewart, and Tina Fey developed a show opposite of The Daily Show? Kind of like Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert?

We will hold onto this dream, hoping you will too.
