Questions We Desperately Need JK Rowling To Answer

I'm aware that people may have had questions before me, but there are a seemingly endless amount of stones that WILL BE TURNED, DAMMIT.

1. Thestral Questions (aka Thestions or Questrals)

OK, JK. I understand the concept of wizards only being able to see thestrals once you've witnessed the death of another human being. But why can Harry Potter, the boy who witnessed his mother's death as an infant, only see these great and horrifying beasts once he watches Cedric Diggory take his last breath? Why couldn't he see them all along??

2. Pre-Hogwarts Schooling

Before a young wizard is shipped off to Hogwarts to become adept in all things magic, what do they do? Are they home-schooled? Do they go to a regular, muggle-filled elementary school where they're taught the banal information all of us had to learn? If so, what would stop them from running around and telling everyone that their whole family is filled with people who can wave a wand and make stuff happen?

This obviously only applies to those wizards born into wizarding families; muggle-borns are not a part of this discussion.

3. Sorting Issues

Picture this: you're a first-year at Hogwarts, floating your way on over to your home for the next seven years in a row boat. You turn to the witch or wizard next to you, and you realize they don't seem to be a great person. And the same thing happens 28 more times. (Note: I'm not 1000% sure how many people there are in a grade at Hogwarts, but let's say it's 30.)

What if everyone that showed up that year was sorted into Slytherin? Does the Sorting Hat make decisions based on numbers, or where a person truly belongs? Who corrects the imbalances and fluctuations in class sizes?

4. Hygiene

There have been (to my immediate knowledge) two mentions of bathing/personal cleanliness in the entire series. The first is in Goblet of Fire, when Harry uses the prefect's bathroom and subsequent bathtub to discover a clue for the Triwizard Tournament. The second is in Order of the Phoenix, when Mrs. Weasley tells Harry he should wash his hair before his trial with the Wizengamot. THAT'S IT.

No teeth brushing, no showering, no nothing. Do wizards not get dirty? Are there spells to magic the dirt off your body? Do they just never bring it up because it's slightly irrelevant?

These are the questions that float to the top of my mind when thinking about the Harry Potter series. What questions do you have?
