Our faculty-in-residence, Will Power, is well-known in the world of theater and hip hop. His hit play Stagger Lee premiered at the AT&T Performing Arts Center this year with stellar reviews! Will and his family invite all residents into his home every week to make smoothies and engage in some good old fashioned conversation.

2. You've been licked by Chase!

Chase, the loving puppy of course! Goldie and Chase are our two resident rescues. Chase is a fan of belly rubs and Goldie loves to explore the great outdoors! Feel free to stop by anytime for some doggie therapy (or to take these two for a walk).

3. You live in the home of Crowchella.

Crowchella is the most epic Music and Arts festival that happens at SMU. Live music, dancing, vendors, food, flash tattoos, and giant beach balls- très hipster. The event of the year!

4. You had hot cookies hand delivered to you...by a real estate mogul!

Last year, our benefactor Mrs. Crow and her daughter hand delivered warm cookies to each resident on the first day of class. Her generosity is the reason that we have Kathy Crow Commons. She is also an SMU alum and serves on SMU's Board of Trustees.

5. You've eaten fresh kale from the KCC community garden

Kathy Crow Commons is the only commons on campus with a community garden. Each year, our gardening club plants, waters, and harvests all crops. We celebrate with a harvest feast by baking in our Faculty-In-Residence apartment and then enjoying a nice brunch.

Residents of Kathy Crow experience a wide range of what the city of Dallas has to offer. Last year, we all had dinner at the 5th most expensive home in Dallas (the Crow estate), attended Rocky Horror Picture Show and Stagger Lee plays, and went to see a movie at the Angelika.

7. You got schooled on homelessness

Our Faculty Affiliate, Willie Baronet, is one cool guy (Google him!) He has traveled internationally, buying signs from the homeless and learning/telling their stories. He brings awareness to poverty and even did a project with all of us that helped us to understand our own privilege and what home means to us.

8. You own PREMIUM real estate

Not only do you live in the newest commons on campus, your location is top notch. That's our mansion there in the middle (the upside-down "L"). We are right next to the Arnold dining commons, the Dedman Rec Center, and the Mustang Parking Garage. That means you can work up an appetite frolicking at the falls, get a quick bite to eat, and then get in your car and drive to North Park mall. All in a days work.

9. You were part of our Student Governing body

The Commons Council is our resident student governing body. Members the council advocate for students. This past year, they decorated our game room, bought KCC swag (including Comfort Colors shirts and stickers), and helped to plan several events throughout the year.

You may not have lived here as a kid, but you sure do a lot of growing up in Kathy Crow Commons. For many, living here is your first time away from home. But don't fret- we've got your back! We are here to help you learn to do everything- make gourmet meals in the microwave, do your own laundry, and interact with your professors. KCC is family!
