A Definitive Ranking Of The Best Small Animals (Finally!)

All baby animals are the best, but which are the BEST of the best?

1. Puppies

PRO: Easy to find and allowed to live or visit almost everywhere. There is an endless and always expanding variety of dog breeds, and if science has given us one thing, it's the ability to find a miniaturized anything. Puppies are probably the most human-friendly, love to give kisses, and most people are comfortable with them. BONUS: You can adopt them and feel good about it, and obviously they'll be perfect as adults too. Man's BFF for a reason.

CON: Profoundly enjoy destroying clothing and home decor, and while a wonderful classic everyone's familiar with puppies.

2. Kittens

PRO: There's a reason these two are the the most common, they're the (baby) bee's knees. Consistently the softest among small animals, show affection through little purrs and nuzzling. Mewing is also very high on the cutest noises on Earth. Often hilarious, easily entertained by boxes.

CON: Viciously sharp claws, seemingly from birth. Can’t be taken on walks or out in general, also poops in a box. Adult cats can be kind of conniving, although that's kind of hilarious too.

3. Goats

PRO: Precious, potential to do small-scale goat parkour, unique among small mammals for possessing cute little hooves. Novelty among pets. Potential for yummy artisan goat cheese?

CON: Chews more than just shoes, as in hair into cud-esque knots in no time flat. Also head-butting and horns on goats are a thing that exist.

4. Piglet

PRO: AWWWWWWWW THE LITTLE SNOUT. Snuggly animal to project your nostalgic Charlotte’s Web love upon.

CON: Need pen and mud theoretically, could grow into a rather formidable hog, and squealing can be jarring. You'll also definitely need to swear off bacon, which is a serious lifestyle change.

5. Bunnies

PRO: Best ears in show, arguable softer than kittens. Just adorable, low maintenance, twitchy-nosed little nuggets.

CON: Less hopping than advertised. Too good at procreating, not that into humans. Still love you bunnies!
