Ah the conversation begins. You've let it slip that you're colorblind.
“Wait, I thought girls couldn’t be colorblind…”
Then the inevitable “Well what color is THIS!!”
“...ok what about THIS?”
“Fine fine. BUT WHAT COLOR IS THIS?!?”
Stop. I will show you. For people who are red/green colorblind, like me, these two photos look the same.
And when I look at this...
But most people don’t get how hard being colorblind actually is.
Like dealing with traffic lights…
And when chargers have one light that is green when they’re on and red when they’re off…
And trying to match outfits is just a lost cause.
Sometimes people try and make me feel better by saying maybe I’m the one who sees the right colors.
Other times people just like to remind me that I can’t be a pilot...
And I definitely cried when Dwayne found out he couldn't be one in Little Miss Sunshine.
Occasionally I'll think about how I can't even see full rainbows.
But at the end of the day it's all okay. Because I know that I'm special and that's all that matters.
