A Treat Killed Our Dog And We Emailed The Company That Sells It

Our dog died from rawhide – a known danger to some dogs. We purchased it not realizing that “beefhide” IS rawhide. Since dogs are considered personal property by law, we emailed Kroger/Smiths to ask them to do the right thing in honoring Moo Moo’s death.

    1) We asked them to remove rawhide, beefhide and Pet Pride products from stores.

    2) We asked for a budget for a significant donation in Moo Moo's name (to be spent on multiple animal rescues).

    3) We asked them to hire someone who owns a pet to research new, SAFE products for their stores.

    4) We asked for a public apology with a commitment to regard pet products sold in stores with the same level of care as human products.

We realized that these were significant requests, but we lost our child! We never expected the generic corporate response that we got.

Here is what Kroger / Smiths had to say about the death of our dog by something we bought at our local supermarket.

To help change the law on letting companies like Kroger / Smiths get away with not caring, to read comments of other pet owners that have been in our shoes, or to learn more about what happened, head over to our petition. If the link doesn't work, search "rawhide" or "Moo Moo" on Change.org.

Here is the product that killed her. She ate it, was fine when we said goodnight, and ice cold when we woke up in the morning. Supervision did no good.
