The band's management company announced in a statement today that 2NE1 would be disbanding.

Shortly after the announcement, 2NE1 started trending on Tumblr and Twitter.

People started sharing some of their fondest 2NE1 memories from the last seven years.

CL: "It feels all so demanding now, but there will come a time when we will miss this day"

Both 2NE1's disbandment and Taehyun's departure left a lot of people devastated.

    People were not very happy...

And struggling to cope with the news.

YG Entertainment said it would now be focusing on 2NE1 members' solo activities and had re-signed with CL and Dara, but not with Bom.

The statement said the company was regretful that Nam Taehyun was no longer a part of WINNER, but hoped that they would be able to work together in the future.

    UPDATE

On Saturday morning, Nam posted a handwritten letter to his Instagram page apologising for the news, and promised fans he will continue making music. According to Soompi, the now-deleted letter translates as the following:

“Hello. This is Nam Tae Hyun.
I am sorry that this unfortunate news was received by people who love me.
There were a lot of events during that short or long time.
I was really happy when I received undeserved love as WINNER’s Nam Tae Hyun.
Although this decision was made after a long discussion, my wish to make good music has not changed and I will meet you through other music and projects.
Stay healthy in this cold weather and I genuinely thank everyone who is supporting me. From Nam Tae Hyun.”
