How Katy Perry And The Film Troy Helped Me End My Toxic Relationship

I am not a Katy Perry fan but after a particularly rough patch in my relationship one of my friends took me for a long drive to cool off and her album was playing on the car stereo. This is what I learned:

    1. Everything should have the romance of a movie

Katy Perry told me that, if its not like the movies, it really should be. I listened.

    2. We can feel weak and will sacrifice our dreams to keep other people happy.

Then she explained to me the dynamic of abusive relationships and how a person can be consumed by another, no matter how strong they are.

    3. Somtimes we can loose ourselves in a bad relationship

Katy then reminded me that you should live your life for yourself and act out your own dreams

    4. But everyone is a bright spark. They just don't always know it.

And Katy made me remember that we all have a talent, something that makes us special. I love finding people in the world who just seem to exude energy.

And I found it difficult but I had to admit I agreed with her about feeling like a plastic bag. What a similie!

    5. Epic love stories permeate history for a reason.

And then...I don't know if I had fully lost the plot due to overexposure to Katy Perry's particular brand of pop but I watched the movie Troy and witnessed the best love scene in any movie ever. I rewound it on my Virgin box and rewatched it. I was enthralled, and decided that it SHOULD be like the movies. It should be exactly like this scene and I will settle for nothing less.
